Why doesn't Persona 4's Junes make a visible appearance in Persona 5?
First off, if somebody already asked this, or I'm forty-eleventh individual to mention this, sorry. I did search for "Junes" and none of the results mentioned this however.

Given how relevant the store "Junes" is to the story of Persona 4 (it's practically the central location of the game) as well as how it's suppose to be a ubiquitous national chain, why doesn't it make a physical appearance somewhere in Persona 5, even if it is just in the background scenery somewhere? Shouldn't Tokyo, a major Japanese city, have a branch somewhere? There are plenty of other Persona 4 references, so I find it's absence quite weird.

Yes, I am aware of the crane game supposedly playing the theme song, but A.) that's weak as far as references go for something so central to Persona 4 and B.) I can't make the connection. I don't hear it. And I've been playing Persona 4 Golden again since I just recently bought the steam port so I have had a recent opportunity to hear the theme again.

The Persona games stand as single entities that aren't conncted. There may be references to older games & short cameos but they are complely separate.
The crossovers happen in some spin offs like Persona Q but those are not canon to the mainline games.

There a shared canon to their universe, but the continuity became much less important after p3.
P5 does take place some years after p4 so maybe Junes had some economic troubles and closed some stores, or maybe theyre just more of a rural chain.

This. I don't imagine there is much room in downtown Tokyo for a 'everything you could need' store like Junes. I don't have any personal knowledge on the subject, but it seems like its mostly small specialty shops due to how many people and plots are crowded in. I could see there being a Junes in the more suburban areas, but we don't visit those areas much, and we don't have much of a reason to go to a Junes when we do.
