They know nobody reads them. Who would even remember all those names if they did?
Quite frankly, devs should start putting credits on some kind of in game item where you can choose or not to read it.
I did think of them by not stealing their game.
It's not about reading or remembering them, its about giving them their moment, out of respect for spending hundreds of hours creating the product you enjoyed; that's how I view credits anyway.
I do think they should be skippable for subsequent playthroughs at a minimum though.
You are playing houndred of hours this game and then you have no patience for the credits?
I don’t need to see them more than once in a single playthrough. Let alone 5 times.

He complains about wasting time watching credits, so he wastes even more time arguing over the same thing on Steam forums... Some people aren't the brightest.
As the other person said. I paid for their work rather than sail the seas for it.
