What's the difference between "Royal" and regular Persona 5?

I played Persona 5 on PS4 when it came out years ago. What should I expect?

New dungeon and a couple of characters.

Also confidants and some game mechanics were changed.

You should expect to play through the entire game you remember once again.

If u have played Persona 5 then Persona 5 Strikers is for you, because Strikers has different battle system and direct continue story from P5 original. Royal is more like expansion of Persona 5 with early same story but yeah still has added story in Royal, but i believe u will get bored easily because like 80% Royal story already in regular version, i suggest play Strikers first instead.

Also quite a few gameplay changes. There are others but the most immediately noticable is gun amm refilling after every battle.. oh and morgana is less of an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about not letting you do stuff

If you are familiar with the changes from P4 to Golden, that can give you an idea. Quite a few changes and additions to the base game mechanics and features, new characters and confidants, a new semester and ending. If you enjoyed P5 and wanted to play it again, P5R is the perfect way to do so, replaying the game while also experiencing new content. If you don't want to commit to playing through all of P5 again, plus more with the new stuff, then save the money and skip it.

Thanks for the explanations everyone.
I'm happy to finally be able to replay this game on PC in 4k.
It's a big difference from when I played it on my 24" 720p TV in 2016.

I just have 1 question on a NG+ do you get to keep your character stats like hp from working out at home? your character levels? etc?

Character levels reset, but stat boosts from working out and hanging out in the jazz club carry over.
