Micro Stutters & Random Crashes (Specs Inside)
This game is experiencing micro stutters (perfectly playable, but annoying) & crashes direct to desktop about 1-2 hours into playtime (not acceptable). My computer is fairly high end and should blow this game out of the water. Specs below:

Adapter Type NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, NVIDIA compatible
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor, 3801 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB 3600mhz
SSD w/350+ GB(s) free in case that matters.

Any ideas what could be causing the issue?

MW2 Max settings runs at 200+fps, no issues w/DLSS. Hunt Showdown 140+Fps no issues. Marauders 200+fps, no issues. CSGO 400+fps, no issues.

Persona 5 locks itself at 120fps. Prior to crashes and the occasional micro stutter the sits at 120fps and does not move. Anyone else having issues on high end rigs? If you resolved it...how?

Edit: I should also add the Resident Evil 8 DLC ran at a steady 100+fps maxed w/Raytracing on. I'm just adding this as another data point since the games listed above and RE8 are the games I've recently played for reference. I'm confused why a PS3 game from 2016 is crashing. A very good PS3 game I might add, but a PS3 none the less.

Those specs should run this game easily i think, although I got even higher specs myself, I don't experience anything of the sort, you are describing here.

I am starting to see a trend and there is a pattern emerging from those that report performance issues. From what I have seen, the majority of you are running fairly new AMD CPU's.

Graphic cards, doesn't seem to matter.

Make sure you have the newest BIOS for your MB. In the least check the update notes and check if it has mention of something that could be related.

As for a patch, we can only wait. Maybe there is a bug affecting AMD CPU's in the game?

As for general advice, update anything you can, like chipset drivers, ya da, ya da, ya da, You have probably heard that enough times.

Got the same issue with a Ryzen 7 5800H / RTX 3060 and everything up to date. It's really sad that playing the game is just impossible now (i'm at 2nd palace)

The render pipeline for this game is pretty scuffed, but for troubleshooting i would try to turn off hyperthreading /SMT (heh) in your BIOS. Some games just have a hardtime using all the logical processors caused by hyperthreading.

lol .This is not any of those games.SO why bring them up. And it is not a PS3 game from 2016. YOu think that game ran under the Windows OS using Direct X API. This is an entirely different beast that uses the same assets. Most likely you have apps running in the background causing issues.

Drivers are up to date, but I appreciate the suggestion. I am noticing a pattern with newer AMD cpu's as well. Must be something with the port. Hopefully, it get's addressed in a future patch.

I'll give this a try.

This is a pointless post. The direct point of comparison was to show that other more difficult games to run are working flawlessly. Meaning, it's not a PC wide issue, rather it's an isolated instance with Persona 5 Royal. And yes, this is essentially an upgraded port of a PS3/PS4 game. My specs should be able to run it at one million frames to be honest. I think the user above that mentioned newer AMD CPU's is onto something though. I'm routinely seeing issues with this game in particular & newer AMD chip sets across multiple forums, reddit, etc.

So your worthless reply aside. The other posters were of great help in narrowing this down.

Thanks for the bump

Update your AMD chip-set and DX runtime with C++ reg one of those will take care of it Also GDDR6X is ECC memory if you OC beyond stable it won't crash at first but it will inject st-udder/ slow frames in period aka why it's called ECC error correcting. Another ding dong move is people OC their GPU core beyond stable, it seems stable at first but causes random crashes in heavy GPU task. This phenomenon also related to sudden GPU core voltage spike, 3080 is firmware hard lock at 1.1volt aka theoretical OC limit, average silicon limit is 2220mhz +/- 15 mhz. Another PBO 2.0 OC instability aka your CPU under-voltage from AMD PBO, system will boot but under load spikes like loading transition one of your core didn't get enough voltage it will crash the system normal in result of restarting a whole system. Another crap that crashes to desktop is GPU memory temperature .
