Why can't I date guys?
It doesn't make sense. It's clear that the character we are playing is an empty one with no personality so that we can project ourselves into them. But for some reason, we are unable to romance men. Why is that?

Again, it's funny how a simple question or a suggestion about how nice would be to have an extra option for people wanting to rol a gay character in a RPG with already multiple romantic options is considered like crying or losing your s**t but reacting to this simple suggestion with insults, thinking that the option is imposing some sort of agenda, directly homophobic and unrelated comments about homosexuality as a illness or passive-agressive responses about how is none of your bussiness, stupid comparisons or like you are implying that the game is bs and you should refund... all that s**t is not a freaking tantrum.

Almost 270 comments and most of them are against the idea, many of them agressively, but omg this f****** gays how intrusive and annoying they are with their opinions.

On the other hand, I bet there were past discussions about what changes were wanted in Persona 5 royal were you couldn't find some of the "not your decision" arguments here. And other non-gay suggestions about what would we like in next games are totally valid. What about three more waifus? Don't be afraid.

Because the MC isn't gay/bi. And also might be because they also they had an anime in might during the development and did give him a personality.

I understand where you're coming from, and I agree to an extent. But since the vast majority of people are straight people that want to date the girl in-game, then that's obviously how they designed it. It would be a lot of extra work to make sure that you can date the guys too. And since that is a very small minority, it was probably not worth the time for them.

Because this game was made before people started complaining about such nonsense.

To be fair, it wasn't a thing in past games either. There was apparently a fully voiced/cut scene to date Yosuke in 4 but they removed it.

Even if Mr. Protagonist is an empty shell, his scoobie gang isn't. As much praise the guys throw at Joker, they don't want to f*** him.
Persona 3 psp had a female protagonist that could date the guys. I dunno why they got rid of that feature for the sequels.

Cause that would be a ton of extra work. A lot of scenes would have to be re-written and entirely new scenes needs to be added. All of that work for simply having a female protagonist as opposed to male. Isn't it much better if they dedicated that time to give us new confidants and new palaces, like they did for Royal?

And what makes coding gay relationship mechanics any harder to code than the already existing relationship mechanics???
It's literally just dialogue boxes.

It's that it's extra work. Not that it's gay relationship. They would have to re-write and add quite a lot of scenes in order to make it work. And it's not just the dialouge. They also have to make new animation, sound and more. I think you're underestimating the amount of work that is actually needed for something so conceptually simple.

They probably think this amount of work is better spent elsewhere. Like adding in more confidants and palaces.

Perhaps they could have skipped the teacher relationship for a gay one instead.

Because unfortunately, LGBT representation is extremely uncommon in Japan. Even if the Persona series is a little forward in that regard (Kanji in P4 was pretty much bisexual), having actual gay romance would be very problematic for that audience. Maybe someday though... Persona 6 when?

Go touch some grass, dummy.

So funny to me that people think that anything LGBT-related is suddenly "woke trash". Breaking news, idiots, gay people exist and always have. Why should you guys have all the fun with the straight romances? Why can't we have some as well? Specially since literally every romance in this series is optional, you don't have to engange on them if you don't feel like it. F*ck off.

With a series that touches on so many "delicated" subjects, you'd expect the fanbase to not have these kinds of morons, but I guess some people play the games with their eyes and ears closed.
