Kasumi Romance Too short?
Is it true she can only be romanced in the third semester? Do we miss out on a lot of romance content with her, as opposed to Makoto?

She basically has the same social link as any other character, you're not missing out on anything. The only difference is that you finish the SL in the third semester, saying why it's a spoiler. You also only get to add her to the party then, so she's not a playable character for most of the game, not that it really matters as far as SL is concerned.

I would even say she's one of the most fleshed out characters in the game, I won't say why because it's and even bigger spoiler.

I'm not even nearly that far in the game but I'm already thinking about who to romance. If P5R is anything like P4G, then you have several events where you can invite your girlfriend and get some special dialogues. If Kasumi is introduced after the main part of the original P5, aren't you gonna miss out on those events (or at least on romance-related dialogues for those events)? Or does P5R doesn't have such events in the first place?

Also, apparently P5R will bite you in the ass if you have multiple girlfriends. Does this happen before the Royal semester or in that semester? In other words, will it still bite you in the ass if you romance Kasumi even if you already a girlfriend or does this happen before you can romance Kasumi?
Only scene of carnage happens at Valentines day (which you need to get to true good end).
No other crazy happenings in game by having multiple love interests.

If you don't have a girlfriend by Christmas, you won't have a Christmas date. Since you can't romance Kasumi until third semester, you can't go on a Christmas date with her.

Not sure what exactly constitutes being "bit in the ass" for people. The reason I say that is because you can bang every girl in the game and you can still have a favorite girl. Which means you can still access all special romance events/dates, including the final white day date.

The only "bad" consequence of romancing more than one chick is you will not get chocolate from any of them. This also applies to Kasumi. You will still get a pity chocolate from Sojiro, not to mention a hilarious cutscene.

Hmm how to put this Kasumi has a unique Confidant ranking system vs the other characters. There is a plot twist with her that effects her Confidant but If I were to go into that it would be a huge spoiler. But to answer your question yes you can only finish her confidant in the 3rd semester which means there is no other scenes with them prior to the 3rd semester. just like with Haru that there is no Hawaii scene with her due to the time on when you go to that scene. I romanced Kasumi during my 1st Playthrough on PS4 and man it was tough.

Thank you for the explanation. Well, I want a chill valentines day with my girl in my playthrough. I'll definitely watch that infamous valentines day scene on YT.
But yeah, if I miss out on a Christmas date, I'll probably romance someone else in my first playthrough. If I do a second one, I'll probably romance Kasumi then.

Your Valentines date is on the 14th the pity chocolate is on the 15th, you can have your cake and eat it, I spent Valentine with Kawakami and White Day with Futaba.

You can miss some good Christmas gifts if you are not in relationship with anyone else. Nothing will bite you. This scene doesn't bring any consequences
