Did you like it enough to spend $60 on it a second time to have it on a different platform?

If yes then it’s worth it, if no then it’s not.

Honestly, the differences between p5 and royal are pretty big I feel, guns for example got a bit of an overhaul and now refill ammo after battle so you can just start blasting a lot more, the boss fights got stuff added to them and theres an entire extra palace added along with a new team member. Without going into spoilers if you enjoyed p5 and wanted more royal adds a lot of QoL and new content.

But if you cant stomach mostly the same story beats with some added stuff sprinkled in until after the orginal final boss then you should weigh that accordingly
I did both on ps4, royal is worth it.
There are changes, quality of life and the story is expanded (and Akechi got closure).
You got a lot less morganablocked too!

It is a more complete package, not only a few additions.

Be advised though, the game is a lot easier overall (guns replenish after each fights for example, you can braindead emty them all each fight).

I played Royal first (on PS4, so I'm going to pass on the PC version) so I can't comment on the original game. But for me the last added chapter was easily the best, with the best story and character development. I really can't imagine the game without it because it ties up so many loose ends. Definitely get Royal if you haven't played it.

So, is "Royal" a port of the original Persona 5? Or is this an expansion/sequel, like "Strikers"?

same boat i don't think i will and not because of money. just the time commitment, might wait a few years for a 5 play-though to be more fresh in the mind. for people confused about what royal specifically adds.
its adds like an extra 20-25 hours of game at the end
new party member character that comes in with extra hours of gameplay
a bunch of new demons
overhaul and addition of mechanics to the base game.
probably still isn't worth a full playthough for that though

first off let me say strikers is a spinoff, not a sequel.

atlus has a bad habbit of releasing a persona game, then a year or 2 later releasing a MAJOR update that changes a LOT so the confusion is understandable. (this has been a habbit of theirs sence persona 3 FEZ, not sure about earlier)

if youve played p4 and p4g, p5r is kinda like golden, except it changes the WHOLE game. golden could have been added as DLC as it added a social link, a dungeon, a few personas. and some new music (snowflakes is the BOMB)
royal is MUCH more polished. and is a MAJOR overhaul, dungeons, story and voice lines have been added and changed, 2 new confidants, and a few new dungeons too, some basic systems of the game have also been changed.
those who say this could have been released as DLC have no idea what they are talkign about. it changed too much to simply be a DLC.

ive you liked p5, then you REALLY should give royal a spin. some of the changes will come into effect right in the tutorial. grappling hook and kasumi

the only change i wish was here was the sin of main character dies = game over

royal is the equivalent of persona 4 golden for persona 4
it basically adds a bunch of extra stuff that wasn't in the original game
its a definitive version of p5 with a bunch of extra story and game play tweaks
if you've played persona 5 already and you liked it its a scaled up version of that
if you haven't played p5 or are unsure whether you want to buy it try it out on game pass

I recommend strikers if ye haven't played it yet and if ye liked the original P5. Strikers is actually a whole new game, fresh gameplay and a whole new story.

P5R is for hardcore fanboys who pretends they are still in love with the game and for those who haven't played the original yet.

That's a hell of a lot of assumptions in a single post about fanboys and pretenses and other stupid ♥♥♥♥

But yes, play Strikers either way
It continues directly from base P5, not Royal, and is one hell of a game in general for anyone who doesn't mind the switch to real time combat
Also includes two new party members you don't get in Royal

So I owned both Persona 5, and Persona 5 Royal on the PS4. Is it worth it? Yes, it completely adds story and changes a majority of the game, You think the game was long last time around well yeah it gets better. Also the final battle this time around will be like the fight between Arthur and his nemesis on the mountain. You will feel worn.

Royal is amazing and yeah I am sucker I re bought it on the PS5 and will buy again on Steam when there is a sale.
