If yes then it’s worth it, if no then it’s not.
But if you cant stomach mostly the same story beats with some added stuff sprinkled in until after the orginal final boss then you should weigh that accordingly
There are changes, quality of life and the story is expanded (and Akechi got closure).
You got a lot less morganablocked too!
It is a more complete package, not only a few additions.
Be advised though, the game is a lot easier overall (guns replenish after each fights for example, you can braindead emty them all each fight).
its adds like an extra 20-25 hours of game at the end
new party member character that comes in with extra hours of gameplay
a bunch of new demons
overhaul and addition of mechanics to the base game.
probably still isn't worth a full playthough for that though
atlus has a bad habbit of releasing a persona game, then a year or 2 later releasing a MAJOR update that changes a LOT so the confusion is understandable. (this has been a habbit of theirs sence persona 3 FEZ, not sure about earlier)
if youve played p4 and p4g, p5r is kinda like golden, except it changes the WHOLE game. golden could have been added as DLC as it added a social link, a dungeon, a few personas. and some new music (snowflakes is the BOMB)
royal is MUCH more polished. and is a MAJOR overhaul, dungeons, story and voice lines have been added and changed, 2 new confidants, and a few new dungeons too, some basic systems of the game have also been changed.
those who say this could have been released as DLC have no idea what they are talkign about. it changed too much to simply be a DLC.
ive you liked p5, then you REALLY should give royal a spin. some of the changes will come into effect right in the tutorial. grappling hook and kasumi
the only change i wish was here was the sin of main character dies = game over
it basically adds a bunch of extra stuff that wasn't in the original game
its a definitive version of p5 with a bunch of extra story and game play tweaks
if you've played persona 5 already and you liked it its a scaled up version of that
if you haven't played p5 or are unsure whether you want to buy it try it out on game pass
P5R is for hardcore fanboys who pretends they are still in love with the game and for those who haven't played the original yet.
But yes, play Strikers either way
It continues directly from base P5, not Royal, and is one hell of a game in general for anyone who doesn't mind the switch to real time combat
Also includes two new party members you don't get in Royal
Royal is amazing and yeah I am sucker I re bought it on the PS5 and will buy again on Steam when there is a sale.
