The switches A button is where the B or Circle button on Xbox Deck and Playstation are
Try toggling this and see if it has any effect
Changing Auto-detect didn't work, or it did detect Pro Controller (+,-) as it is but it didn't respond to the correct ABXY.
Right-click P5R in your steam library list> second from the bottom > controller layout and you should find the game-specific config for your controller. Select ABXY and assign the A button to the B button of the Xbox controller displayed and so on. I hope this works.
Using Switch Pro display prompts and "nintendo button layout" does indeed use the right icon art, but all the prompts' icons are still switched around regardless of configuration. It accepts the correct input but will display the incorrect prompts.
Turning off the "nintendo button layout" causes it to use the correct prompts but reverses the desired input.
For example: it asks to press (B) to confirm actions, and (A) to cancel actions. Ofcourse, it does work half-as-intended. Pressing the Switch's (A) button will confirm actions and the (B) button will cancel actions as desired. However, persona5, particularly during combat; has lots button UI revolving around the position of the game pad buttons- encouraging you to press the wrong buttons.

While the game is running, plug the controller in to ur PC directly like you would if using it as wired. This will fix the controls while plugged in. Now once you see its fixed, unplug the controller. Once the controller reconnects via Bluetooth, the controls should be fixed wireless now too.
This worked for me on an Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller, however this seems to be a problem with several wireless controllers with the screwed up face buttons. Not sure if this fixes it long term, but it seems to fix for whole sesssion.
