FPS/Performance issues in populated areas?
I am playing on AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB with i5 7600K which should be better than the recommended specs but I can't get 60 fps in populated areas no matter what I change my settings to. Is this a bad pc port or is this Denuvo or what am I missing here because I see a lot of people having this same issue on much higher end pc's? It's literally at the beginning of the game by the way. The dungeon is smooth so no performance issues there and the cutscenes + dialogues are smooth as well only the high populated areas. When you step out from the metro it's a small area so it's not an issue but as soon as you get to the district where the MC lives it just starts crapping itself.

Find the game in the process list of the task manager and set priority to high.

Outside the cafe I was was stuck at 30fps and having stutters so bad the audio was glitching because my cpu was stuck hard at 100%. Since changing priority I have had a solid 60fps with no stutters and my cpu usage dropped to 50% usage even a 200% render scale.

My hunch is denovo was not properly implemented.

This is on a i5-4670k btw

no issues with my Ryzen 5 3600

One issue I've found is something is severely wrong with however the game does Vsync. I wasn't getting really noticeable stutters or anything, but I was noticing screen tearing. Now you might say "Screen tearing with Vsync?" Ya that is odd, but it is because I use mod some of you might know called SpecailK. I typically default to using its framerate limiter because most games just suck at framerate limiting, especially Japanese games. Well I look at my framerate and I'm getting like 48fps. This is right outside Leblanc with a system using a R9 3950X and a RTX 2080 Ti. While yes, I am at 4K, there is no reason it should be getting only 48fps. I look at the frametime graph in SpecialK, and ya it isn't pretty. Not enough for me really notice stutter, but it wasn't as consistent as you'd expect.

Well I start playing around with a bunch of settings. I got the framerate back up to like 58, but that is where it stayed. This is on my HTPC, so it is on a TV so I'm not trying to go past 60 fps or anything. The 58fps seemed to be the top because of the varying frametimes, and no setting would really have a noticeable effect. Well I turned of Vsync, something I never do because Screen Tearing annoys the hell out of me, and what do you know my fps is solid 60fps with almost no frametime variation, at all. I was even able to move my Resolution scaling back up to 150% and still maintain 60fps. I did the same thing on my Steam Deck, along with setting the in game fps to 120, then using the Steam Deck's options to limit the framerate to 60, and that got rid of almost all stutters on the SteamDeck too. I've yet to try it on my desktop (5950X + 3080 Ti), but I didn't notice anything remotely like that on my Desktop, probably because it muscled through whatever the issue was.

However this game is handling Vsync, it is really screwing with performance.

gtx 1070 8gb and i5 7500 here; as soon as you get out of the metro station the game starts stuttering and fps are dropping even below 30 fps

it looks like the game is not very demanding on the CPU side but wants to have at least 8 threads which is causing trouble for some people non hyper-threaded 4 and 6 core CPUs.

This actually made the game run worse for me for some reason. So I started checking other things like the processor affinity in the task manager. mine was set so that it was only using cpu 2 and cpu 3 instead of all cores for personsa 5 for some reason. task manager > details tab > right click P5R.exe > set affinity. Not sure if it really makes a difference. Although in Yon Gen or whatever back streets it only seemed to dip down to 60 fps instead of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like 20 like it was before.

Ryzen 5 3600 + GTX 1660 Super -

Animated cutscenes are fine, intros are all fine, but the main menu sits at about 15 FPS, in-game can barely maintain 30 FPS. No settings changed anything (FPS drops minimally when downscaling to 50% going up to 200%)
CPU is at ~20% usage, GPU is at a constant 100% usage no matter what. Can run other games fine like KH3 fine at maxed out settings.

I have the exacty same issue! My i5-3570 can handle it easily (less than 30% CPU before the Yongen-Jaya Backstreets), so it must be some bug. =/

You getting the 100% GPU usage but low power draw/low temps issue too? It's like the game isn't using the GPU properly.

Yeah, it seems like for some setups there's definitely something really weird going on for sure, since in some areas I hover around the same 30/31 fps no matter what settings I'm at. Whether it's 200% scale resolution with everything on high, or 50% scale at the lowest resolution possible, with everything off/low.

Granted, I have an i5 4570 and an RX 580, so I was fully prepared to have some small issues or need to tweak things. But when the performance hovers at the same FPS no matter what settings I use it does feel like something odd is happening somewhere. It doesn't feel like the graphics settings are having any impact on whatever might be happening.

r5 3600x- rx 5700xt main menu and game is like 20 fps. Cut scenes and settings are solid 120 interesting lets hope a fix will come quick.

Framerate >100 during the intro sequence, drops to single digits/freezes as soon as you take control of Joker in Yongen-Jaya. CPU usage spikes up to 100%. Effectively becomes unplayable.

CPU: i5 6400
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB VRAM
RAM: 16GB
Win10 Pro
