Outside the cafe I was was stuck at 30fps and having stutters so bad the audio was glitching because my cpu was stuck hard at 100%. Since changing priority I have had a solid 60fps with no stutters and my cpu usage dropped to 50% usage even a 200% render scale.
My hunch is denovo was not properly implemented.
This is on a i5-4670k btw
Well I start playing around with a bunch of settings. I got the framerate back up to like 58, but that is where it stayed. This is on my HTPC, so it is on a TV so I'm not trying to go past 60 fps or anything. The 58fps seemed to be the top because of the varying frametimes, and no setting would really have a noticeable effect. Well I turned of Vsync, something I never do because Screen Tearing annoys the hell out of me, and what do you know my fps is solid 60fps with almost no frametime variation, at all. I was even able to move my Resolution scaling back up to 150% and still maintain 60fps. I did the same thing on my Steam Deck, along with setting the in game fps to 120, then using the Steam Deck's options to limit the framerate to 60, and that got rid of almost all stutters on the SteamDeck too. I've yet to try it on my desktop (5950X + 3080 Ti), but I didn't notice anything remotely like that on my Desktop, probably because it muscled through whatever the issue was.
However this game is handling Vsync, it is really screwing with performance.
Animated cutscenes are fine, intros are all fine, but the main menu sits at about 15 FPS, in-game can barely maintain 30 FPS. No settings changed anything (FPS drops minimally when downscaling to 50% going up to 200%)
CPU is at ~20% usage, GPU is at a constant 100% usage no matter what. Can run other games fine like KH3 fine at maxed out settings.
I have the exacty same issue! My i5-3570 can handle it easily (less than 30% CPU before the Yongen-Jaya Backstreets), so it must be some bug. =/
25 fps on title and streets. Stutering in the first castle too
Granted, I have an i5 4570 and an RX 580, so I was fully prepared to have some small issues or need to tweak things. But when the performance hovers at the same FPS no matter what settings I use it does feel like something odd is happening somewhere. It doesn't feel like the graphics settings are having any impact on whatever might be happening.
