This also can generally happen when peoples scaling in windows is set to more than just 100% so that might be it too.
It defaulted to 1080p and 120Hz on my 4k-120Hz screen but it was only outputting 60Hz. I changed the resolution to 4k and that worked but it was still 60Hz. So I disabled V-sync, that seemed to work and now I was getting 120Hz but there was a lot of tearing and the resolution, although displaying 4k looked blurry as ♥♥♥♥.
Then I just alt-tabbed out of the game and the back in, the resolution now was fine, crisp at 4k. I tested exiting the game and going back in and the resolution stuck.
Hope this helps.
Actually this worked, changing display settings -> scale and layout in windows to 100% fixed the issue, even playing in full screen...I guess I'll just have to change it every time I play , which is still not ideal but it's something I can live with
I'm also playing the game on Switch, and the HUD elements look equally low res... it's almost like the HUD is rendering at 720p (or lower) regardless of in-game settings.
I set mine to 125% and the game resolution are so janky and blurry window mode fix it but if you using stuff like Borderless Gaming it will revert back to blurry again
Special K can fix it too but it crash on some place so i uninstall
The only choice work for me is to change display scaling back to 100% it annoying especially when i tab back to check some stuff everything look so tiny since i play with 125% all the time
Looks like I have to do the same fix. I use 125% display scaling in my Windows settings too, and turning it back to 100% fixes the busted UI rendering.
Usually setting High DPI options on a game's EXE will resolve any Display Scaling options, but not for this game. I have to manually set display scaling to 100% before booting up the game.
Special K doesn't crash it's the game itself there is an error with the Thieves guild/network stuff atm on Game pass and Xbox consoles and the error message which comes up if it can't connect to the servers freezes the game with special k enabled.
