Please remove the ability to purchase DLC Personas for free upon first purchase
This is something that should have been rectified when integrating dlc into the base game. It completely breaks the game, with the game already being too easy on all difficulties. The original integration of dlc Personas somewhat made sense because you had to spend your irl money on it to get access to it, but this isn't the case anymore. What even is the point of playing the game if you can just buy Personas that 1-shot everything?

Can't you just ignore them until you feel you're ready? With this rule they're clearly labeled as such.

Although, I agree with you in principle, but would instead add a switch to disable the DLC content, wholly or even independently for gameplay bonuses and cosmetic items.

That's for you to answer. Stop expecting the game developers to be your parents. If you don't want to use cheats, don't enable cheats. You are given the option in game, it's not forced on you. Plenty of old games had cheat codes you could punch in to give you invincibility or all weapons or level select, even popular ones like Mario and Sonic. Just ignore them.

As the game repeats two times before you input your name, and once again after - You are responsible for the consequences of your own actions.

I still paid for those.
I think a more elegant solution would be to allow the player to choose which items they "take out of the box" rather than enable all DLCs for just interacting with it. This would allow access to, say, the DLC costumes without enabling the OP DLC personas.

Another solution would be to integrate the DLC items more naturally in the game via shops and events.

nope, tbh how Atlus move is right, put all DLCs into based game just like how P4G era when no DLC back then on 2012, and most games of that era is full-baked games. I have already beaten P4G, some people might beaten P3F or even P3P, allowing P5R player to access previous Persona is awesome. It's all up to player whether to use Izanagi no Okami or Messiah / Izanagi or Orpheus / simply stick with just Arsene or Raoul from the beginning. It's completely up to players. If u too afraid breaking the game simply locked all DLCs persona from copendium and never ever summon them from copendium, it's that easy.

there's a mod on gamebanana that does exactly that. "full dlc rework"

Indeed, and while I'm grateful the modder took the time to fix Atlus' inelegant solution, it seems like they (Atlus) never bothered to consider that some of us wouldn't want gameplay-altering DLC present amid cosmetic-only DLC.

Plus it's kinda creepy that the MC has a cardboard box with women's bathing suits in it...

Oh well. At least one patch is currently in the works that may address this without the need for the mod.

You can just, not open the box right?

Piss-poor solution. Thank god for mods.

I don't understand the point of making another post about something that a dozen other have made when you can just choose not to use the dlc box. Even the 100k bonus money isn't anything since it's chump change anyway. Even if you don't touch the box the persona fusions will remain the same and you can still fuse the dlc personas. This is such a silly thing to complain about.

Because these people have no self control. They're acting like 8 year olds being left alone with a bowl of candy, then complaining that they got sick from eating it all.

All the DLC is reasonably ignorable. I'd say the main crux of the issue cosmetic DLC isn't separate from the non-cosmetic DLC when picking up. Personally that's my biggest issue. I want the costumes without the money or use/equip items. I suppose I could install a mod to fix that, and I probably will soon.

Also, the DLC personas are quite busted even if you don't directly take them from the compendium. Say you fuse the first Orpheus naturally instead of buying it for 0 yen. You may not realise just how OP it is and other DLC personas are until you use them enough and/or unlock traits for them too. So you use OP DLC P2W to unfairly boost you through the game and you regret it because it didn't seem that bad at first. So you end up starting over...

You become like 10 times more busted with the regular personas, at least with how easy it is to trigger an alarm, the only one that remains late game usable out of the box is Izanagi No Okami.

Also most of the late game combat is not even that, you will be insta killing everything with Ryuji's power.

I play the modded personally to make it harder than default, so I'm not really looking to abuse cheese like that. On top of no longer using them so I will have no further experience with how they're broken since I'm dropping them from my future experiences with the game. But from what I saw the skills and traits that are unique to these DLC persona are much better than anything from base P5's endgame.

Neo-Cadenza alone seems to brake the game. It effectly does Matarukaja, Marakukaja, and Masukukaja all in one. Each of those skills alone cost 24 SP, and Neo-Cadenza does all 3 of them and 50% party healing for the price of 24 SP. Frankly, I easily beat P5 which is harder than P5R just off the back of buffing and debuffing when against bosses (so I didn't need to be at a high level). You give me just a broken skill like this and that alone would break all the boss fights in the game.
