Difficulty mod
This game needs one asap. Can't be the only one who thinks that 5R was much much easier than Vanilla 5, right?

Even merciless was easy lmao

Yeah all the new stuff added into this one that wasn't accounted for in the Vanilla game really kind of broke Royal with the builds you could make and extra abilities/buffs.

I guess they were going for rule of cool and pure fun over anything, which I guess I can't argue with.

They either need to add a "Dark Souls" difficulty or just straight up remove INO Picaro from the game lmao

It goes a bit beyond that though. I intentionally ignored the DLC/Bonus/Picaro fusions myself but between all the other legitimate tools and crutch abilities/Showtimes/Overpowered QoL buffs/No need to ration ammo anymore etc it's still a bit extreme.
I think some of those Will Seed accessories were the worst offenders, starting battle with auto concentrate or being able to cast it on allies really broke some turn management balance and made a lot of trash fights single-turn encounters :trolol:

Yeah vanilla already gave you the tools the make the game easy as ♥♥♥♥ but Royal just made it easier.. somehow.. That's why P3 is my favourite to this day. Better story AND it actually puts up a fight.

I agree with you on the seeds. Considering how much power they bring to the table, they should be locked behind WAAAAAAY harder "boss" fights, imo.

And I think that SP items need a pretty hefty nerf too. As soon as you get a good portion of them, the difficulty just nose-dives (which sadly is common in every SMT game).

Just increasing stats of demons to make them harder is an easy way out, but am not a big fan of that. Would like to see some extra higher LVL demons (that can not be recruited) roaming the dungeons that have a slight chance to appear in trash fights, or as extra enemies (reinforcements) after the first trash fight.

Any other thoughts?

if they add custom difficulty like P4G that would be nice too

Hmm... Modding anything in this game will probably impossible because of Denuvo. If the difficulty settings are incorporated in the .exe file and have to be tweaked in the game code itself it's right out impossible.

Example - Persona 4 Golden. The so called "Trainer" applications that can alter your game difficulty (or give you a "god mode" for example), works perfectly with the "alternative" version of Persona 4 Golden, but do not work at all with the Denuvo protected version. How do I know? Well - I don't need a trainer, but I tried it on Persona 4 Golden here on steam just for fun. And the result? - No dice... It won't work.

To put it bluntly - It's highly likable that mods that alter game play simply do not work because of Denuvo. Other mods, like graphical stuff or something, have a better chance, but it still will be a hit or miss.

In short - Start begging with the publisher. I am afraid that's the only option. Forget about mods, until a "alternative" version of Persona 5 Royal becomes available.

Soul Hackers 2 has Denuvo and there's already a few mods for that. Mostly just to make the costumes appear outside of battle and another to fix the floaty >100fps floaty physics, but it seems atleast somewhat possible still.

Plenty of Denuvo games have mods. Denuvo is verifying your game against a renewable Steam token or something like that. It doesn't care if you mod files.

eh, its easier than vanilla ? vanilla was pretty easy, you got overleveled by just doing mementos once as soon as each level opens

I think the best thing, difficulty wise, would be for players to ignore the DLC Persona's, at least on a first playthrough. Izanagi-No-Okami Picaro in particular. The DLC Persona's are basically pretty good "I Win" buttons in the early game up through mid-game.

Mitsuru casting tentarafoo before your party going to be wiped out is hot, isn't she?

One thing i hate with the difficulty options in Persona games is that the harder modes make the game way more grindy for no reason, i don't want to level up slower and get less items, i just want enemies to actually hurt without being hp sponges.
