You are wrong, it's ok to be so.
Fair enough. I'm totally fine with you disagreeing with me, we play the same game. I can also understand that people might label something based on what has more of an impact on their personal game experience, rather than what the game is roughly providing through a lengthy play session such as this one.
Coincidentally for me the most impact on the game experience is the visual novel part which frankly is by far what the game provides through most of the playthrough. And as a pure RPG I feel like it's lacking quite a number of things which even indie RPG maker jrpg games have, such as world exploration among other things.
But that being said, if for you the jrpg part feels more impactful and the visual novel type of dialogue based game parts are less important when you define your game experience, than absolutely, it's a great JRPG in that case.
*fixed it for you.
Its just a jrpg. With how weirdly some people try to classify stuff im sure there are some who will somehow think its a fps. Sorta like with music you can be listening to Ramstein and there is always that one person who will be like "Ahcktually it isnt metal its sub-blind core historic 1.5 Metal" and you are just like "bruh, its metal. stop it."
Chess "tells no story", it is just a game. mechanics only.
I understand your confusion.
Ok see what you mean about chess, but it does kind of tell a story when you think about it. It is meant to be about two kingdoms fighting, at least that's always what I thought it was about. But you could say it is just a simulation game with no story which makes sense.
