I've played a lot of JRPGs and I gotta agree. The music and aesthetic in this game are amazing, but it's the slowest JRPG that I've ever played period. The fact that a game that takes 10+ hours to even get to the meat of it is so popular is crazy to me.

Eh. The Legend of Heroes series makes the first game in every arc slow paced but it builds the world and sets up characters, places, and events like you wouldn't believe.

You either enjoy that kind of thing or you don't, and if you don't, there's plenty of games that won't try to build anything for you, just set you up with some gameplay and leave it.

People generally don't want a fast pace in their JRPGs story and world building. Persona especially is about individual stories coalescing into one major story, so they can't really let any one character be written weakly. That's gonna take some time to engage with.
I think most jrpgs are slow. Not a bad thing, some people just don't like the slow pace.

So if something doesnt have have you murdering people it is aimed for a young audience? Bruh really? You cant murder people in Heavy Rain so I guess its also a game for kids.
Over 80% of the playerbase is above 20 years old, it just doesn't make sense.

If a game won't even let you buy a real gun to shoot imaginary personas and calls it "airsoft" when said gunstore has a grenade launcher, a shotgun and a desk full of silencers then there's something childish.

Even the story makes a suicidal attempt fail so "someone" doesn't die wich would be much more meaningfull, i can go on but will spoil a bunch of stuff.

"C.S. Lewis — 'When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.'"

The more you try to sound like an adult, the more you sound like a child.

A real adult doesn't worry about what others think of them, cause they're mature and confident enough to do what they want.

You're trying too hard. If you're young just enjoy being young, there will be plenty of time for 50 hour work weeks, taxes, bills, and responsibility when you're old.

And if you are old, then isn't it time you started acting like it by dealing with your insecurities so that you don't project them on others?

That's fine. I don't like the dude bros that swarm to modern FPS games (I played older ones) but hey, I don't buy CoD cause I know I'll hate it, and I don't engage with the community because they don't need or want my sour grapes squirting all over their good time.

I like the slow pace that lots of jrpgs have. They can use that time for world building or developing characters. Look at Utawarerumono if you want a visual novel that has a slow pace and builds it's characters wonderfully. I know jrpgs are not visual novels, but Utawarerumono came to mind for some reason.

That's another genre I don't care for actually. I like to mix my reading up with gameplay so it doesn't get repetitive. If all I'm doing is reading, you might as well hand me a book. Just my opinion of course.

Utawarerumono actually has gameplay sections. The writing is also excellent, it actually brought me to tears last night.

Can't argue with fanboys.

Nice concession.
Yeah, they turn any objective point into a subjective drama where you have to fight waves of "opinions" who nobody can win since theresn't a right answer.
You lose time explaining basic stuff while they drive into a new tangent every time, pathetic.
Agree, While in Art style and presentation persona 5 is amongst the best i have ever seen, It pales in comparison to the mechancial depth that was in JRPGS over two decades ago take lost odyssey and blue dragon for example which where laughably baradged and ripped apart by critics merley over its demo, intro length and "Use of pre existing mechanics" which got them ratings as low as 4 and 6, take persona which has no unique mechanics and merley simplistic stables in low number and it gets praised as a masterpiece.

To this day i fail to see how the supposed "Failure" games can even be put on the same table as persona 5 as lost odyssey to this day is one of the best JRPGS i have ever played critics and sucess be damned.

I rather enjoy persona however quality does not translate to popularity otherwise OLD smt games would of been more successfull there is more young people that are willing to buy/Play persona and sad truth is they just have more time to thats why more refined indepth games arent rewarded in industry its the sad truth i have had to attend to and i am only in my 20s, teenage characters are used for a reason, they are the median age and generally speaking so are the players, the story is entirley based on shonen tropeisms old sociteys, Inner powers, Frenchship ect its the same story i have seen thousands of times, there is nothing in it for me anymore with these games, But because many adults like this to its what people get instead of senin storylines and more indepth games.

*Note Soul Hackers was adult in character only contained a bland storyline very bad mechanical depth being the easist in the franchises history with very predatory pricing and underwhelming level design it makes persona 5 look like a polished diamond*

Its sad that people cant tolerate different opinions without being verbally abused and baraded with mockery. Thats why the game market is not diversified anymore its the same NONSENSE over and over again.

I explained to you why I think it's popular with people over 20, why the characters don't need real guns, and asked you to explain your third point.

How is that "turning an objective point into subjective drama making you fight waves of opinions nobody can win"?

Rather than just talk to me like a person, you proceeded to fold like a lawnchair stating that you can't argue with fanboys.

There's a difference between slow and not respecting your time.

Opinions are opinions. A shame that Arthur website isn't around with the death of Flash. That was a fun one to link to.

Edit: Oh neat, someone made a video:

Objective: The game is long with a lot of dialog, in comparison to other RPGs.
Subjective: That is a bad thing.

What I particularly like about the above comment is the first observation referred to as objective is no more objective than the second.

Steam forums are so much fun.
Messaggio originale di Brandon:
I've said it the moment it came out. Anyone coming from PS3 & PS4 would be rolling in their beds when they realized that Atlus had planned a 5th entry before even announcing it. Plus, I'm not paying $60 for it anyway. Maybe when it goes on sale, but even then, I'll probably never play it. Something about it always seemed up in your face, & the characters aren't as flushed out as they were before. Which is interesting when they called it Persona 5 Royal. My biggest gripe is that they rushed the second Persona Q because the game just flew off the shelves. I mean, people really, really, really love this game, & I still don't get it. Aside from Makoto, the characters really are boring, & Joker just seems Idk... Not iconic in anyway. Is his name a play on Adachi's character? Probably... I do believe the game is visually stunning considering the previous entries that made the franchise so popular are from a platform that's over 20 years old, but I've put nearly 100 hours into Cyberpunk 2077, & James Cameron spent 2 trillion dollars on making a single movie while charging $30 for a movie ticket. I'll never count that over the actual characters & story. Visual appeal is nice, but not that nice~
I just don't think Persona 5 is for you, nothing wrong with that. Move onto to something else you enjoy.
