You get things from the box that are better than any persona you can normally create even by the end of the game. So yeah, it's not "nothing". It's literally OP DLC stuff that makes the game almost play itself. And yeah, it's really stupid, I have no idea why they decided to take all those cool personas from previous games and make them gamebreaking, basically unusable unless you want to cheat.
To be fair the base game wasnt that hard either is not mainline after all.
I don't think this justified anything. Playing with OP personas just isn't fun at all, who or why would you even want o breeze through the game anyway, even if you played it? That's something that sounds like it makes sense in your head when you say it, but when you actually think about it, it doesn't.
Also, yes the base game wasn't difficult to begin with (unless you played on merciless, it actually made sense in the base game). But that's no justification for any of this. "oh yeah, the game was easy anyway so make it even easier and give people OP things that invalidate whatever challenge was left!", said nobody ever.
No, it just doesn't make sense. It would've been objectively better if those personas had normal stats, on par with other personas in the game, were accessible normally through advanced fusion or something like that, and had their unique skill be on par with base game's skills. A unique animation or effect is more than enough for flavor, you don't need to make it gamebreakingly OP. When I buy DLC with Izanagi, it's not because I want an OP persona that trivializes the game, it's because I want IZANAGI in my party, as long as the model is good and there are some unique animations to make it feel like it did in P4 then that's all anybody is asking for... Actually, scratch that. They could've simply copied the skills Izanagi gets in P4, literally the path of least resistance. it would make it feel even better and more authentic. But instead, we get a BS physical skill that nobody asked for. Good job Atlus, you sure understand your players.
None of this makes sense, I would love to talk to the person who decided it should be made like this and try to understand what made them think it was a good idea.
Boom, problem solved.
If you're struggling to resist temptation I'm sure someone can make a mod to remove the box and force the difficulty to the highest setting.
If they make the DLC personas weak and unusable in late game, who would buy them, remember that all that was paid content.
An yes, people want to speedrun the base game to reach January so they can see the new content, this re-release wasnt about challenge, they wanted Kirito and the cute redhead with some more animated scenes.
Also once you reach level 51 you outgrew mostly everything except Izanagi no Okami.
