Doesn't fullscreen?
Why is this the only game that doesn't fullscreen? Starts on Windowed but the settings say "fullscreen", not even alt + enter fixes it
I have to switch to borderless then fullscreen, why?

most games these days default to "borderless" I am sure there is some reason behind it all, but literally every new game I have played recently defaults to borderless. But when I switch it to fullscreen it works perfectly from there on out.

I don't know if there is any launch command to force fullscreen on startup? sometimes there is, might be worth having a look if other options aren't working for you.

It's because in new games on modern Windows there's really no point in exclusive full screen. It's been a long time since Windows 7 and older.

IIRC modern visual pipelines like DX12 don't even support proper exclusive fullscreen anymore, so pretty often games that use DX12 and allow for fullscreen are just doing borderless and lying about it.

Either way, exclusive fullscreen used to give a performance benefit compared to borderless. But that boost is so small that these days there isn't a practical difference. Your system would need to be well below the requirements for this game in order to make exclusive fullscreen actually worth it, and at that point you aren't really playing modern games anymore. Seems kind of moot at this point.

Huh, didn't know. I've always played my games in exclusive fullscreen :( it feels weird playing in borderless

because borderless is the only way to play this game to fullscreen.

Exclusive fullscreen also comes with its share of problems as well. Each time an application tries to take fullscreen control, it has to readjust the rendering resolution of the whole screen so that it fits with the software resolution. This is why tabbing in and out of a fullscreen application is difficult, and it's also what causes fullscreen applications to render incorrectly when trying to swap between fullscreen and windowed.

Borderless bypasses all of these problems by simply rendering the window to be the correct size. It used to take slightly more system resources and used to not handle v-sync very well in a lot of use cases. But these days none of those are really true anymore. Not to tell you how to enjoy your games, but borderless really is the ideal way to render if you're using anything stronger than a gtx960. Consider giving it a try and seeing if you can't settle into it.

Fullscreen can be set at the desktop resolution. In addition on supported versions of Windows 10 and 11 fullscreen is now a hybrid between exclusive and borderless, and DirectX 11 is far more sane with managing resources than the old versions which would lose everything when you lose focus, suspend your PC, etc.

In borderless mode, the version of DirectX 11 in Windows 8 and higher can use "DXGI Flip Model" to have latencies similar to fullscreen even in windowed mode, and for a turn-based game latency isn't going to be all that noticeable anyway.

the only thing even approaching an issue ive had is having to restart game once after changing the resolution to 4k.
