"Japan's" obsession. Japan is the country with the obsession with minors.

Go blame Japan, not an entertainment medium. D:<
Also blaming an entire country is the same as blaming an entertainment media. Just saying.

Youth is king EVERYWHERE, everyone wants to see healthy people in the prime of their lives,

Models for makeup are teens(or sub teens) made up and then presented to over 20 year old women as the "ideal" they should strive for.

I wish for another "extinction level" event to smear humanity from the face of this planet.

Every day

This and Like a Dragon proved that it didn't have to all be prepubescent kids and that character arcs other than just a 'coming of age' story again and again don't need to be repeated ad nauseum to be interesting. The more adult themed humour is a breath of fresh air in these things.

High School is the only time in japan where you have both life energy and also free time to do adventuring.

I understand that some go to ecchi side. but games like Persona never went that far, (at least up to P4) there are romance between teens, but nothing sexual or between adult / teens.

If YOU see sexual tension where there's none, then maybe you should consider going to a physician as you're the one obsessing over minors in a videogame about living your life + dungeon spelunking rpg

BUT if you want an honest alternative, try the Yakuza series. They're almost like an anime but also foccused on adult life.

/Persona 3 has entered the chat.
You'd have to have talked to other people when you were a young adult to understand probably

The answer I've heard is that High School is the last point many Japanese people feel like they have any control over their lives. When you join a company you don't apply for a specific job, you send in your application and they in turn stick you wherever they happen to need someone. Even college is 'they help you hook up with a company which in turn tells you what to study'. And don't even think about quitting, that's a huge black mark on your record.

So yeah - high school life gets romanticized quite a bit as a point where one's future wasn't certain and they were free of responsibilities.

Or better, Yakuza 7.

I agree, somewhat. The point about them being pre-pubescent is just plain stupid though.

It would be a fresh take to focus on adults in a future game, how they bond with colleagues at work, balance their work/free time with hobbies etc. Just to make it stick out from previous Persona games.

I've already played that on PS3 and PS5 :) It's a fun game, but it's the same genre. I love the Persona series, I just mean that it would be fun with a slightly different take on the same formula.

First, don't project your own cultural values on other countries. Age of consent laws vary from country to country and even locality to locality, as well as the perception of "minors" in general. This is not to mention that there are western games featuring high school aged teenagers in romantic or sexual situations, e.g. Life is Strange. It's not tiny children who are depicted in these kind of games, it's adolescents. Just because you chose to be chaste through your teenage years (and onward?) doesn't mean the next person did, or that they may not identify with a more realistic story about teenagers. Life is Strange is a beautiful, moving game.
