Lately, too few games are made with genuine gamers in mind, as many seem more focused on virtue signaling than on delivering fun experiences. That's why I'm all for projects like this. Even if critics try to undermine it, quality games will get the support they deserve. The numbers always speak for themselves.

Attempt to smear will probably backfire considering the wild context of the game. Feedback from the Japanese on the trailers have only been positive.

However western journos seem to be attempting to snub it already, by not giving it any media attention.

Its actually an indie game dev and they dont have the budget to market like Wukong. The best we can do is spread word of the trailer and let people wishlist. Journos cant touch wishlist numbers

When a game is made by a developer in a country with serious issues with another country and it's this reverent of the culture, that's pretty impressive. What surprises me the most is that it was allowed to be made and released in the first place. The CCP does not at all hide it's disdain for Japan and it's people. All companies in China must go through a CCP official. I actually think the satirical nature of the game is serving as a smokescreen/distraction/cover story/plausible deniability and that's a good thing. Hopefully they don't change their minds later.

Since smaller studios can actually be creative and free from the corporate shills and shareholder greed.
This looks like one of the wonderful games the Japanese used to make 10+ years ago.
