How to properly use grappling hook?

I saw many times how ppl hook enemies to the ground, but idk how to do it myself. I tried to come close to the enemy, but then I'm just stuck together with my enemy XD

While near an enemy, (very near) grapple to any surface. The person near you will be grappled to where you grappled.

When you click, you shot the grapple hook, it can be attached to ANY physical object, even projectiles. Once you attach it, you can cancel it by using dash, meteor, drilling into the ground(if you are in the air, drill won't cancel it) or rolling with roll(before you "realese" roll, you stay attached, if you realese while "floating" on grapple hook, you will just drop and when you touch ground, you realese), or jump while you're in the air. You can also hold grapple to pull yourself. If you're close to the enemy, instead of you being attached, you will attach the enemy.
