There is an update regarding the development state here if you're curious. Although I would note that the article is, if anything, underselling how badly the development is going.

It also gets a few details wrong, like this game started its Patreon in 2016 rather than the 2017 referenced (and it was in development before it was on Patreon too!) but the history of this game is so convoluted you can't really blame them.

The devs also panicked and brought out a patch for the closed beta for the first time in 14 months shortly after that article was written. It didn't work at all, as in nobody could even log in, for a full month. Then it went up and crashed again at ~300 players and took a few weeks for them to fix, only to turn out there's been barely any progress.

It's pretty hilarious at this point but I wouldn't hold your breath if you're looking for a game.
