I am excited to see this new IP sprout, bud, and bloom coming from two OG's who are just as big of fans of RPG's as the rest of us. Everything about this game so far reads as genuine passion from the devs, and I'm here for it.
Winning GOTY after GOTY breeds hubris. Hubris always comes before a fall. And with hubris creeps in complacency. Complacency KILLS. And the sad reality is that Howard, that jester of a lead writer Emilio P., and the overall TES Dev team (majority who have been around since Morrowind days) simply DO NOT realize they're falling in a death spiral. That their tone deaf, entitled, toxic attitudes is what is KILLING the innovation that made TES and FO4 global household franchises.
The fact the dev team has been rudely dismissive of SF fan base concerns on social media to date. Sadly becoming the paradigm of detached reality.
The fact that Emilio P. -- a AAA Professional and SF LEAD WRITER of a new AAA title --- continues FAILING TO UNDERSTAND the concept or rationale for design documents to date?? Yet accuses the fan base for being "the problem". Because he's too thin skinned to accept genuinely constructive criticism from the fan base WHO ARE HIS CUSTOMERS AND SO PAY HIS SALARY.
The fact Howard has now lost all apparent credibility with the TES/FO4 fan base. Proven by the 95%+ perma loss of Steam SF players to date. Which remains unaffected even after the new DLC came out. The fact Howard is tone deaf to fan base and consequences of his lying by omission. That he failed to explicitly reveal the fact no true flight model exists in a solar system. Once a player exits the load screen after take off. The fact that the 45 min SF Direct video lied by omission by implying this sort of flight mechanic.
Knowing how that would turn NMS, ED and even SC nerd fan bois delirious with the hype of the implied ability to fly between planets & astral bodies in a solar system. When the truth was SF was going to be a 100% mind numbing load screen simulator. So the biggest selling point was the game's Exploration mechanic, which had been completely over sold. Since Howard KNEW the reality of this mechanic was really an endless button/keyboard load screen clickfest. Loading one endless Sky box after the other. Hell you didn't even need a ship to travel to the most remote part of the game map. You could 100% revisit that remote point ON FOOT with one FT button/keyboard mouse click. LMAO. So WTH did SF even need ships to begin with?
Rumor Mill says they're planning on using the currently upgraded CE 2 game engine for TES 6. Divines help us.
RIP TES.
Software development is about solving problems, and problems in AAA games of late have been less about fun mechanics from creative programmers and more about solving the arbitrary "how make $$$ go up" problem. I just wanna have fun, man.
