My opinion is that having food and drink items without survival mode enabled wouldn't make much sense if eating the food stuffs wouldn't give some benefit. Of course the food having potion level effects wouldn't make any sense but if there was a passive effect called "Well Fed" and or "Thirst Quenched" that could apply after eating/drinking it would make it actually worth the time adding the food/drink items for the player and would allow an easier transition from a non-survival mode play-through if they had already been eating and drinking for the passive benefits before hand.
So long as the system is one that players would like to engage with rather than become a chore it could be fun.
That's my two pennies worth anyway.
Agreed, this is not everyone's cup of tea.
An option is the best I could hope for. :)
If we do make a survival mode it would be a separate thing.
Thank you for replying.
Fair enough ; it will limit the possibility of a player to brick his playthrough if he mismanaged his ressources.
