infinite dashing+spraying is also too fun to me
It's my go-to gun even on extreme.
But understandably the game has sniper weapons for sniping and plenty of ammo for most weapons, especially with secrets. However, it's nice to have alternatives to gamestyle
If I upgrade the pistol I get an all around tool for the entire game that tops no other gun at their roles but it's a fine choice everytime and saves other guns' ammos since I use those tools less.
Eventually you'll end the game with both guns fully upgraded, given new chapters come out
In other words, while the pistol alt burst costs few weapon parts, you can't go wrong with either gun since you don't have to wait for re4 upgrades for the gameplay to be even remotely good, and don't have to put in hours to learn particular movement tech like special shotgun jumps and such
because one of the strengths of the game is the basic movement and shooting are already good instead of being basic and stiff like in most shooter games
it's just fun to infinitely dash (close enough to someone and do a flying kick to headshot)
tldr, in some situations you want to move and shoot with smg, no constant reloading. other times you'll go back to pistol. you want to stick to pistol? you probably can for 90% of the game, in the sense it's good at everything but tops nothing
The Sten works better when you can focus the bullets into one singular target. Like it for Harvesters, and the big brutish beast boys.
It really feels like everybody attributes the pistol to a slower playstyle.
