Best Use of Weapons Parts?
Just got through my first run of chapter 1 and I am curious, since I found all the weapons parts, what did you all upgrade for the weapons?

I fully upgraded the shotgun since it seemed like I never ran out of ammo for that gun and 80% of the time it did the job. The rest I mostly relied on capacity upgrades. With more focus on the pistol and the Sten.

I would love to see how the lever action was fully upgraded, but the ammo, as well as for the FG42, just didn't warrant the use of parts. Am I wrong on that?

you are wrong on that last point. ammo is not a concern past the first level, especially if you go for all secrets. lever action is super strong, I'd say stronger than the super shotgun.
capacity seems weird to dump your points into, over other things. best to worst choice is generally damage-utility-reload-spread-capacity,

Get the first and third upgrades for the grenade launcher, they make boss fights much easier!
I found one (usually fourth) upgrade for every gun useless, except for the Sten (which I almost didn't use at all).

I usually upgrade guns like this:
Handgun: accuracy, damage, mag capacity.
Shotgun: reload speed, damage, barrel choke.
Lever action: improved lever.
China Lake: blast radius, shrapnel damage, mag capacity, slamfire .
FG42: scope, mag capacity, damage.

I know this isn't really a survival horror but my tactic in those sorts of games is always max out damage, because if ammo is rare, than I need the best damage per ammo. Even though this isn't much of a survival horror and ammo isn't that rare its still what I went for. I think I did accuracy or rate of fire after. I rarely got the secondry fire upgrades.

Depends on which difficulty you're playing. Remember that you have less ammo in very hard and extreme, so for me it's a matter of "more damage and better accuracy".

Usually I upgrade the pistol first with the stock (2 parts), then damages (4 parts) and if I feel like I'm rusty, I go for more ammo capacity (2 parts).

For the lever action rifle, damages first because it melts some of the tougher enemies. Then I go for either a better fire rate (2 parts) or ammo capacity (2 parts) if I want to go a bit more berzerk.

Then the good old shotgun, I always start by reducing the spread (4 parts) then get damages (4 parts) as soon as I can, also with the faster reload (2 parts). This weapon is broken in close combat it's ridiculously fun.

I use the Sten mostly as a weapon for mowing down groups of enemies, so I go accuracy (2 parts) then capacity (2parts).

Grenade launcher? Can't go wrong with the slam fire (1 part) and capacity (2 parts).

The very first upgrade you shall get for the FG-42 is the scope (1 part), helps a lot, then the damages (4 parts), then capacity. But if you want, go full auto (2 parts), it's a bit ridiculous how quickly it melts enemies.

I can't remember how many there's weapon parts in total, I shall make a no upgrade run just to see.

No - a little over half of what you'd need is available in Chapter One.

If I recall correctly there's around 44 parts in Chapter One, and you need around 70 to fully upgrade everything.

I ended up with 41 weapon parts, probably missed some. Thanks.

I maxed out pistol's damage first, cause you have nigh infinite pistol ammo and it's just always there and always useful.
