As far as samplings of full games go I have no clear idea what I played through having just completed The Plane Effect Prologue.

Alright, that's a somewhat misguided bombastic statement. It plays like a very light adventure game where focus appears to be mostly on oppressive and grim atmosphere following our family man as he's about to clock out of his office job. Then all hell breaks loose in a vision of dystopian future where signs constantly flashing BUY-USE-BUY are omnipresent, and shades of gray are interspersed with green and red hallmarking objects of notice. As he goes through doorways, overcomes drones patrolling the streets and his own psyche we struggle to differentiate the real from imaginary.

This prologue to the full game offers three gameplay modes starting with normal and increasing levels of gameplay hints, but I'm hard pressed to point out WHERE exactly you'd need such level of guidance. Mostly you just maneuver around bleak city streets using sluggish controls to guide our cumbersome, coat-bedecked protagonist. He can jump - I wouldn't. What puzzles there are can be boiled down to figuring out solutions in nearby vicinity. Sometimes obfuscated by lack of dialog or access to MC's thoughts, but conveyed obviously enough through action bubbles. You won't be racking your brain here much.

So what is it? Too light and streamlined to appeal to traditional adventure crowd. Maybe there's a mindblowing story transcending "corporations run the world where everyone's a drone" as it plays on your emotional familial ties. I'd wait and see.

The atmosphere is really beautiful but most of the riddle are pretty easy. If u want to chill and play a game than this is perfect for u. The story is short but not over yet, i hope there will be new content soon.

The game runs pretty smoothly, graphics are great. Even though this is just the first 30minutes of the whole game, I think the developers did a great job. I was slightly bit disappointed when I found out you couldn't edit the in-game volume; this is just a demo so that doesn't really matter. For anybody else who is reading this, you can turn the camera in all four angles for a better view. you just have to use the number keypad which is on the right side of most keyboards. and don't forget to "buy buy buy"a game reference-
Overall I think this is a good and calm game to play, I will for sure be on the look out when the full release comes out.

The opening cut-scene was good and immediately grabbed my attention. Everything was downhill from there.

The puzzles are garbage. The first task (knocking a keycard down from a light with a paper plane) didn't work until I first looked out the window, because I guess I wasn't "wistful" enough to throw a paper plane with delicacy. Everything after that follows a similar or worse pattern.

The narrative also gets kinda boring after it mixes in metaphors. If I have one bit of praise to make it'd be that the imagery was often quite good.

TLDR: Great opening cutscene and graphics, nothing else.

The feeling the prologue left me with is still here now.... I mean, in mechanical and artistic terms I could compare it to Limbo, only it's not any kind of platformer and it's isometric 3d, not 2d. Gameplay wise, (and to some extent graphically) It kind of reminds me of Little Big Adventure, with Limbo's sense of darkness and sudden stabs of savagery.. Narratively, I could compare it to The Stanley Parable, except the game has no dialogue and also in visual, world-building and tonal aspects to any number of surreal, dystopian games and tales. Beholder 2, Brave new world, Fahrenheit 45 1, The Zero Theorem, kafka, Erazerhead, even Bullfrog's Syndicate,..... I COULD, but it really wouldn't be fair. Though The Plane Effect definitely calls so many other things to mind, it has a warmth and heart to it that I really wasn't expecting. It also has the best snow I've ever seen in any game ever. I love the presentation, the (almost) monochrome palette, the totally absent U.I, the quiet, under-stated yet totally surreal mood, the way it tells it's tale completely visually without dialog, the nasty, unexpected little things that happen every so often and the weirdly proportioned, faceless yet lovable protagonist. Underneath it all I suppose, it's sort of a of walking sim with some mild yet gratifying puzzling to be done, but again I feel it is a little unfair to boil it down to merely being this. the game definietly has a story to tell and a very sophisticated way of telling it. Anyway, it runs very smoothly, lasts half an hour and costs nothing. It's ending Is rather abrupt, but in quite a darkly amusing way. I'd really like to play the rest of it right now, but the full game isn't out yet, So I guess that I'll have to wait. Very Promising.

The art and atmosphere are sublime. I just hope the developers have removed the current requirement to solve the puzzles by following a precise sequence of actions performed in a chronological order, even if some of the actions are not relevant to the puzzle.
