You can be an a-hole though. There are special "prideful" answers that give you "pride" points and as the game goes on it will lock you out out of certain dialogue choices/paths if your pride is too low or too high.
The main story and side quests are really good, the writing is the best part of the game. It's the reason you forgive all of the game's shortcomings. Characters are complex and the story uses it setting well. As a Pole, there is so much delicious Polishness in this game, you truly feel you are in Warsaw in 1905.
Outside of quests there are also small events happening in the city which can be dissapointing if one considers them quests, but as a sweet little thing that helps you immerse yourself better in the city I think they're nice.
