English voices only? Add Russian/Polish for crying out loud!
Seriously... its a heavily historical setting (with fantasy elements, of course) and the only option is to play it as if its a dubbed in movie?

Please cast the game with appropriate voices, your studio is from Poland ffs, should be really easy to get a good voice actor cast.

Dont be ashamed of your eastern european setting and go the full mile with it, dub it in the native languages of the time.

Could be worse, it could have been like localisations of Japenese games where they're saying "Duuuuuuuuude!" "Bruh!" "Saaaaaay Waaaaaat" "Yikes!" "hot minute" "damn straight", beginning every sentence with "hell", etc. Even if it's set in Japan or Europe.

Agreed - what a wasted opportunity.

It's an AA game. How many AA games do you know with full voice over in multiple languages? It's a business decision. Of course they will go for English since it is understood by most.

From what I've seen (heard) so far, the voice acting is top notch and has that "historical" feeling, i.e. English idioms of the turn of the century etc. The quality of it, combined with the music, gives me strong Witcher 3 vibes. So to me, the English VO sounds fantastic. That's the most important thing.

Since it happens in Poland It will be kinda weird when someone in the background screams in polish, jiddish or russian and our protagonist (also polish bloke) talks in english. Anti-climactic in my opinion.

The game releases with an English VO. There's a chance for Polish dub at some point in the future but that's yet to be confirmed and we don't have any date for it yet.

Again, it's the same in literally thousands of other games. You won't sell as much copies when you release a game in any other language than English. Heck, Hollywood rather shoots a completely new movie remake instead of letting people just watch the original with subtitles.

So get over it already. But: I am sure if you send the developers 200k for a Polish voice over they will get to work right away. Do you have 200k lying around?

PS: It's of course great to hear Polish voice over is considered. It all depends on money so OP and kociamber you can propel it by just donating 200k.

Developer has already stated that they are considering Polish dub moving forward, so you get over it :steamfacepalm:

Are they speaking in English but with a Polish accent? Or is everyone using American and British accents?

Do people suddenly scare away from a subtitled game? I think not. It would have been far cheaper to keep the game in Polish/Russian than dub it in english.

Lots of Japanese AA games have done away with english dubbing precisely because its a sound business decision.

With this its just the fear of the game being far too provincial to gather international interest, which harkens back to my OP.

Most games done outside of the english-sphere are unsuccesful because of lack of resources and support, not really because of their lack of english dub.

Its specially sad because this game is seemly heavily reliant on characters and story, which a english dub-only just kinda kills the mood for.

Lastly, this is a RPG, the RPG crowd is used to completely undubbed experiences in most CPRGs, which further compounds the point.

It can cost tens of thousands of dollars to do vocalization work in other languages. Money the devs may not have. Maybe you should ASK that question first INSTEAD of putting a dev on full blast because YOU'RE unhappy with a financial decision they made.

And such an investment can yield even more profits because it reaches a wider audience, so what is your point?

English. 1.452 billion total speakers.
Mandarin Chinese. 1.119 billion total speakers.

But thats the point dude, voice acting in Polish or Russian is cheaper than voice acting in english.

The devs are from Poland, they dont need to pay an a US Citizen that happens to speak polish, that would indeed be much more expensive, they have a much easier access to local and very much capable voice actors.

Again, i shall point out to AA (and sometimes even completely indie) japanese developers that have foregone ENG voice acting althogether.
