Definitely not true either way that the game overly taxes all GPUs.
Update:
Actually got misled myself here... my 4080 is indeed also running at 97% - 98% Load constantly, just didn't notice as it is still running utterly noiselessly... guess PNY outdid themselves with the cooling solution and that my new case cooling design really does the trick, heh.
So yes, hereby confirmed that the massive GPU load happens on 4080 as well, albeit keep in mind that I'm running the game with every single setting cranked to Epic, no Upscaling of any kind, natively at UWQHD.
It sounds like this game just has an extremely unusual heavy load on the GPU
I would imagine it's because it's 3D and due to the near-isometric perspective, and high res textures plus lots of lighting sources, you get a huge area of the map in the camera space at once, thus it's really pushing the lighting and AO calculations for that many interactions at once.
Definitely something that could -- and should(!) -- be better optimized.
