I first heard about this game many moons ago, and wishlisted it instantly. As a huuuuuge fan of both puzzle platformers and movies, this is a game for me.

I've finished the 1st of what appears to be 3 "films" that you play through, and it's already gotten quite challenging! So be prepared. On the downside, the challenge feels like a lot of trial and error as opposed to puzzle solving or platforming-based challenge, and I do worry about how tedious that might get later in the game.

But it's got some neat homages. It's well polished. And it sure is unique of a mashup and in its gameplay. Animated cutscenes between every level as well. Worth checking out!

Great game that combines time-based puzzles with tight platforming. For the most part it controls great and it gives a great feeling of achievement whenever you figure out a puzzle AND pull off the platforming too. Great learning curve as well. The last scene in the first film felt impossible at first but when I got it, I felt very clever indeed.
The movie tropes that get called upon are great classics and the cute art-style really brings it all together. If you're a fan of puzzle games AND good at platforming this is just game for you!

I played this game at an indie game event early this year and knew it was going to be great. Very stylish puzzle platformer where you use a timeline of events to setup the perfect timing to narrowly avoid everything. It is super satisfying to spend extra time looking at the timeline and get everything perfect and get it in one take, although on a lot of trickier scenes that obviously won't be feasible as you have to figure out if the timings you think will work actually will. I wasn't planning to use the hint system, but once I saw what it actually was it is implemented in a great way. There is a "script" of what each scene is supposed to cover, but for a hint you can add extra text to the script to give you a better idea of what you're supposed to be doing in any given part of the scene. You can also get a bigger hint by having it tell you where any given timeline element needs to be, but I think these small text hints are perfect. For example, on the "get the idol" scene, I had already tried what the solution required to deal with the darts and concluded it didn't work, but then when I saw the hint for the last part of that scene it made me realize I was thinking about it in the wrong way and that that strategy would give me just enough time to pull it off. Excited to play the other 2/3rds of the game.

Finished the game. Kept being really fun! They had a lot of clever concepts. Some of them were a bit more frustrating than others but I'm sure it depends on player. Thankfully, I again want to emphasize how well-made the hint system is in this game. In my initial review I talk about how cool the hints are that add to the script, but the other bigger form of hint is locking a timeline track into its correct position.. this might sound like too big of a hint, and on some levels I'm sure it would be--I often did levels without hints, but on some levels there are multiple large looping layers and so figuring out when they all need to be to fit together would become more tedious than a puzzle, so I found that using one hint on these levels to lock in the looping object of your choice really gives you a nice base for figuring out what everything else should be--rather than needing to test every possible permutation for every combination of loops. Overall, great game! Hope they add DLC or go further with this concept.

tl;dr the platforming gets in the way of the puzzling, and the puzzling gets in the way of the platforming; everything else is meh.

I first played this at PAX and was looking froward to it. I love the idea still, but this game is just not for me.

It feels like it's trying to be a puzzle game and a precision platformer. The platforming becomes a barrier for those looking for a fun puzzle game, but it's too unpolished for someone looking for a challenging platformer.

As a puzzle game, often I find that I have the correct sequence, and I am just not platforming well enough so I think the sequence is incorrect. Every arrangement means you have to first get the platforming down before you can be confident the sequence isn't quite right. The "aha!" moment of each puzzle is unsatisfying because of all the work, and then knowing all the work to come to make sure it's tweaked right and you have to skill to execute the scene.

The need for precision during the platforming makes it really frustrating to trial and error the sequence.

As a precision platformer... it just fails. The controls are perfectly serviceable for platforming, but if you want precision to be fun serviceable isn't good enough. It's missing all the little micro tweaks that tighten up the controls so you don't feel like you're fighting against them the whole time. Additionally the scene elements are awful at telegraphing when you need to jump. Perfectly fine for more basic platforming, but just not good enough for precision platforming.

The fun interaction elements and sequence testing makes it really frustrating to trial and error the platforming.

Overall the game stands in the way of itself in nearly every aspect. Small bursts of fun between periods of frustration, annoyance, and fluff. Even just restarting a level (in a game that is all about trial and error, mind you) requires you to skip a bunch of stuff, you gotta jam the button like 3 or 4 times. It would be way better if you could just rewind a time segment instead of having to start all over - especially when you're testing some sequencing at the end of the scene. All the inter-scene stuff is uninteresting and forgettable. It's not voiced so if you read even at a normal rate you're gonna be jamming the fast forward button. There's a reason most games have a button to skip just the single bubble - so you can easily read at your own pace.

The controls are fine, but the xbox controls for the UI feel pretty meh. They're not bad, but they could be good. For example, instead of using the triggers and buttons to seek the timeline and elements back and forth, the button just takes your cursor to the seek thing, so if you want to tweak, then seek back and forth, then tweak it's pretty tedious.

Maybe you'll like it; maybe you'll love it. But for me, the concept is awesome but the game stands in the way of itself too much to be worth it.

Ahh- I really wanted to like this game. I saw the first few puzzles on a lets play and decided I had to try it.

The style stays cute, the scripts are cheesy and great, but the puzzles and platforming get frustrating pretty quickly. A few of the levels are very clear on what you need to do- but there's so many moving pieces it feels like random luck getting the right answer.

For example, there's a section where you need to aim a worms head at a rock and fire. You can only fire at certain intervals and each limb can be rotated (Not freely, but you choose the timings of the rotations that are on the timeline- and when those rotations happen). There's 4 segments that rotate.

I spent 30 minutes missing the rock. Those types of missions get more and more common.

Really wish I could recommend it- such a cool idea and style! There are some cool levels but the later ones get just a bit too much for my tastes.

Really fun, challenging puzzle platformer.
Currently at scene (level) 9 of the first of 3 movies, and having a really good time so far.
Platforming element is challenging sometime even when you use hints to make sure the puzzle part was correct, but at a certain point it's like a 'ohhh that's the way the level needs to go' kind of vibe which is really satisfying.
The puzzle element increases in difficulty during the game, and consists of multiple tracks (comparable to i.e. music making programs regarding type) with different elements in the form of blocks (sometimes locked) that can be arranged for timing. Basically you need to get the timing of the different elements correct so i.e. a block will fall down at the right moment to help you get higher up (simple example). If you don't want the puzzle elements, you can also use hints to get the tracks right immediately (track per hint, so many different options).
The vibe is amazing as well, really hits that 80's/90's action / B-movie aspect with some fun characters and dialogs in between the scenes.
Would definitely recommend for the price if you like either B-movies, platforming games with a twist or puzzles with a twist (or a combination of the previous ones).

This is one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. Tough puzzles.. and the players movement in the platformer part feels amazing, it´s spot on. Don´t sleep on this one!

What an incredibly fun concept and a great twist on platformers. Each level consists of reading a movie script, which describes the scene you have to enact. Following that, you’re presented a movie-editing software-style timeline you have to use to make sure that all the obstacles in the level go off at the right time, which allows you to guide your character to the exit. Sometimes, the script requires you to fulfil certain requirements like gathering an item or making sure there are no enemies around. The levels themselves only take a few seconds to complete once you get the sequence right but the puzzle aspect comes in the form of needing to make sure everything is placed in the right spot in the timeline.

The game itself also has a lot of character, with each level being a shoot on a movie set including a script, a director shouting cut and a movie clapper signalling the start - and reminding you of how many takes you needed. The in-game movies pay homage to classic movies like Indiana Jones and Star Wars with loads of funny references and quips.

I only found out about this game today, thanks Future Games Show <3, but as a video editor I just knew I had to try this game for myself. Again, great take on the platforming genre with a fun puzzle aspect.

Can wholeheartedly recommend this game so far, will update the review if anything noteworthy pops up.

Playing a video game as if you were editing an Adobe Premiere video sounds like a crazy idea. But from the very first levels, you realize that the concept works extremely well. After three hours and a few successful puzzles, it's far too late to go to bed.

The Dark Souls of puzzle platformer!
While playing I was cursing at the developers and applauding them at the same time.
Some of the levels are ridiculously hard, but the triumph you feel after you beat on of them is priceless.
I have never seen a game of this genre with level desgin as diversified and clever as this.
