I'll be 51 soon, but agreed - growing up with the Commodore 64 and Amiga 500, we've come a long way - and few computer-facilitated experiences have impressed me more than Kayak VR.
- and happy Birthday in advance :-)
And it has indeed been a far way looking at the dusty C64 in my basement...
Atari 800XL here.
The kayak also charmed me.
And the first thing that delighted me in vr was Oculus First Contact (Rift version, Quest version doesn't look so good).
The next thing was Eye of the Temple (Feel large spaces in VR in an unfettered way. Critical requirement of 200x200cm VR area size, no less).
Kayak VR Mirage was the third degree of drowning in VR.
There are two types of dlc, paid and free.
This dlc, in addition to the map based on real terrain (probably, I didn't research the matter), brings new waterfall mechanics, and a few other things like player dummies.
It seems to me that the game and the dlc are fairly priced.
Would I like the dlc to be free, sure.
Would I prefer the dlc to be paid, sell very well, and in half a year another paid dlc will appear - yes, I would prefer it to be paid.
I am so happy they released this DLC
OK, I wasn't totally crazy. I couldn't remember where I'd heard that the DLC was free. Turns out, there was a content creator on YouTube that was previewing the DLC and mistakenly said it was free. He's since made the correction. I do think the DLC is fairly priced, but I also kinda think this first DLC probably should have been free for those of us who bought the game in early access and then waited nearly a year for new content. I'm not upset about it or anything, just think that would have been a better way to go.
Early access often has a discounted price, and this was also the case here.
I am of the opinion buy what is in stock, not dreams and promises. So I don't expect anything more later either.
Why feel disappointed. If you stand firmly on your feet, you will not feel bad that something is not there. And you might even be happy when something extra comes along.
