Why does my diesel disappear ?
I have built a diesel refueling station and have a tankwagon for to supply it, but I have no diesel loco so far. So there is nothing that consumes any diesel. Nevertheless my diesel always disappears and the tankwagon runs empty regularly.
That can't be true (and costs a lot of money): As long as I have no diesel loco the amount of diesel should remain constant and not steadily decreasing into the nothing

The diesel stands are designed to hold 16000 gallons of diesel. They come with 4000 gallons when built. Ergo, you need 1 1/2 tank cars to fill each diesel stand to capacity as each tank car can hold 8000 gallons. So, unless your game is modded and causing a problem there, you should be simply seeing the diesel stand filling up and that would be why your tank car is empty after a couple of days. The transfer rate is real slow between the stand and the tank car.

If the diesel station works like the coaling towers it has its own tank with a higher capacity than one tank car. It is empty when ypu build it. (So the fuel fro your car went into its bunker.)
Check if the station now has your "stolen" diesel fuel by now ;)

I bought the diesel switcher which came with 149 gallons of fuel. It was put into the engine shed at E Whitter.

I bought the Diesel Fuel Stand from the Timeline section of the Game. It then deployed a boxcar with parts I suppose to build the thing on top of a small section labeled Diesel fuel Station which is on the small track extending from the E Whitter engine shed.

Then I bought a tanker for future fuel. Hopefully everything will finish in a few days at the pace I play at and there will be a fuel stand with fuel ready to go. I will not move that Diesel until I can be assured of fuel.

The biggest problem with the mini game in the finances is there is no way to spend real world dollars into "Investment Packages" DLC that can open and provide say a million game dollars for 10.00 US Which will support the railroad game in company mode for anything you could hope to want to buy or build.

I hope the Diesel fuel process plays out in the end. The only thing I need to learn is gallons per hour burn against the biggest grade on the line and then figure out whats possible on 150 gallons of fuel and tonnage in terms of miles, trips and so on.

I'm going to simplify your last paragraph. Don't worry about it. I was running 3 GP9s to pull the mountain every day. From being full to the first refueling I did took 3 days of hauling tonnage up the mountain, switching Snowbird and also running blocks of cars for the various yards between Sylva and Andrews. Average inbound train was 45 cars and 2000 tons. Average outbound train was almost 4000 tons and 45 cars. Simply put, the cost benefit between the diesel and steam is enormously in favor of the diesel. You'd have to have, at a minimum, 2 Santa Fe types to move that tonnage and they'd drink water and eat coal requiring refueling in each direction at least once.

Invest in several tank cars for your diesel supply. Fill each diesel stand and then leave a car there full of diesel to keep it topped off. Expensive at the beginning but worth it in the long run.
