Suggestion for timetables (QoL improvements i think)
Before you say, join the discord. Im one of those rare people who doesnt like to use discord so i will not join the discord.

Anyway,

I was just thinking about a nice feature which would in my opinion make as nice QoL for timetables.

So lets say if you have to cancel a train which you timetabled for example the locomotive is defective or whatever. Lets say you would have to cancel your morning westbound because the locomotive pulling it is in the shop for whatever reason either an overhaul or a repair and you dont have a free replacement to run your scheduled train. In such a case we should have the option to cancel the train for the current game day. Obviously passengers get pissed at a canceled train. So you would lose some passenger rep. However what if along this we added a feature where if we informed our passengers timely (lets say 2 hours before the train is due to run) that the train wont be running today you would only take a very small reputation hit compared to taking a larger hit on your reputation if you not were to tell your passengers.

I feel like the above would really liven up the passenger side of the game. I think this would really encourage us to try and run the trains that we schedule to the timetable however also add a nice option to have in the case for whatever reason we cannot run a train as scheduled without bonking our reputation.

Dito Discord or any social media. Steam sells the games, not Discord.

I have nearly 1000 games on Steam, do you think i'm joining 1000 devs on discord....

BTW, great ideas

I really feel like this suggestion would make the passenger side even more fun!

I got hacked through Discord, over 7 times, both account and computer. Plus a highly toxic environment. So I'm never going back.

I would enjoy a way to avoid taking a reputation hit because of shop issues. That's actually the biggest reason I have wear and tear set to off, because of the hit you take if you don't run passenger service.

As long as you serve each open station ONCE per day you will not suffer any reputation hit at all.

Or just take a freight loco and stick it on PAX for the run. People gotta get to work!

But what if your freight locomotive is occupied? :P

Honestly that's just not a very realistic scenario other than the utter catastrophe/game over situation of wrecking your only loco to 0%, at which not being able to run a pax service is one of your smaller problems.
During the early period when you're only normally running 1 loco, well it's doing both duties already, and if you need to repair it then you just use your backup loco to also do both duties.
Once you get to running multiple locos there's still essentially no possible scenario where you have a working loco on your line but are unable to run a single passenger service. You choose what your locos do, so you take a loco normally used for freight, send it to get your passenger train, and you run a single passenger service with it, then send it back to whatever it would normally be doing.
Sure if you want you can choose to take the hit from no pax service in order to preserve that extra couple % bonus for delivering all the freight first day, but that really is an active choice you would be making, not that your freight loco is 'occupied'.

Thanks for your thoughts, will make a note of them.

It's his best quality - this guy may not always reply, but he always listens.

He's the best!
