overview of passengers
Is there or is there a possibility to enter a total overview of passengers in the passenger cars on the passenger train. Rather than having to click on all the cars to see and calculate everything.

It is something we are aware of and plan to look into at least.

You only need to hover your mouse over a passenger car to see how full it is. The same goes for freight cars and their cargo status.

Not only how full each car is but also where they want to go. (Hint, usually not where your train is headed at the moment. Its the opposite direction)

Im sitting in Bryson heading to Hemmingway Depot and Ive got a hundred or so who wish to go to Slvya in the other direction on several of the cars. And a number staying in the depot building and not boarding the cars inspite of everyone of them being marked as going to all of the available depots.

I am running a commuter model stopping at every depot in each direction end to end. Now I am second guessing that choice.

I think its time for me to crack the time table open and get that started. If it will help organize the people into directions we are going maybe it will improve the situation.

There’s a mod available on Nexus called the “Passengers UI Mod” that tells you the total passengers on the train and the totals heading to each destination. It works with the Unity Mod Manager. I’m running it on the experimental branch at present.

x1, I start a passenger train at each end of the map, check all stations, copy to coupled, and send it off. When it reaches Alarka Jct, I uncheck and unload the people for Cochran and Alarka Depot, they get off at the Jct and board the Alarka Branch passenger train. Every time a train makes a station stop, it unchecks that station automatically, thus people arent boarding a train thats not going the direction they want to go. You must be rechecking all stations every time the train makes a stop? Having people on your train, taking up seats for a station you are not directly going to, is absolutely pointless, you end up with a train full of people that arent going where you are going, This is operator error, not the game. Leave them sitting in the station until your return trip, load them up then. Iv also never had people not board the train if there were empty seats in a car that had their destination checked.

This is how I play in the main branch, no timetables or mods.

Right. Operator error no problem. I am in the process of adding a second pax train. It will take some time and money to do so. Theres no control over the people at the depots other than to leave the ones behind for the other new pax train being built for that issue.

The game requires one pax train a day. Thats the minimum. As long enough stations are met that day it gives you a good rating. everything else is automatic at the depots I dont choose where the people wish to go. They will get there eventually is how i do it.

A few dozen will end up riding the whole line on one train or another then back up the whole line again to get to the specific station they wish to go.

Its not working very well. Catering to the passengers demands for specific stations so they are being left behind. If I took 1 pax to a next depot on the line then I am happy, the other 60 can darn well wait for their train.

I just dont get what you are doing, to have people loaded on your train going both directions. Its so easy to control this so it doesnt happen, and doesnt take micro managing of the train. I run from Whitier to Andrews, and the only time I intervene with the train is at Alarka Jct, when it stops there I uncheck and unload all passengers for Cochran and Alarka Depot, then they wait in the Alarka Jct station for the Alarka Branch train.

Wherever you start your train from, just check the stations it will stop at in the direction it is going. If you start on one end of the line, check all stations, load up anyone who is waiting, and set off down the line. As you (or the AI) make stops, each station you stop at is unchecked from the list, so your train doesnt even allow people to board, who are trying to go in the opposite direction of the train. Unless after each stop, you are going in and rechecking all stations again.

Even if you just have one pax train, thats how we all started, but just work from one end of the line to the other, and then back again.

I usually end up with a full train going one direction, so having people taking up seats that are trying to go the OPPOSITE direction, would seriously tick me off!!!

Uncheck all the stations that are in your rearview mirror, so that you are not boarding people trying to go behind you, its that easy!!! Unless your game is broken, I dont understand what is going on, because thats not how my game works!!

Main branch, no mods.

Good Luck!

I made a crew for each direction that seemed to help. as I came to a station only those riding the "right way" would get on.... now I have added cocran and alarka its a whole new deal to try and figure out the spurs :)

I run the branch line and have customers getting on the wrong train. I had 80 passengers on my train when it got to Nantahala, which is the end of the line. Of those, 44 wanted to go to stops that had already been passed, i.e. Sylva, Whittier, etc. They disappeared during the time between timetable starts and no, I didn't get paid for them. Major concern! :steamsad:

Tried something new. Assigned ALL passenger cars to a train via the operations tab. Timetable now updated on All passenger cars, not just one. Ran train to Nantahala with no passengers wanting to go the other direction! :steamhappy:
I would make the case for their to be an overview for the entire train. Put this information somewhere in the Company panel. Have a drop-down box where you can select each lead locomotive and it shows you detailed information about the entire train.

Such as:
- Locomotive fuel levels and maintenance level with cost to repair
- Each railcars maintenance level and cost to repair
- Axle information for each rail car to help prevent hotbox
- Freight car information 1) destination 2) revenue to be earned
- Passenger car information 1) destination of passengers 2) Revenue to be earned
- Sell price of each locomotive and rail car I own that makes up the train

I'm sure there is more that could be added to the list. This is data the game is already keeping track of, it would just be nice to see it per train, in a summary screen rather than having to individually click on every locomotive/rail car.

If this game is about running a railroad company, this is information as a CEO I'd want to see at a glance so I can better manage my railroad.
