it's the observation car, the bonus is 20% and it's for all fares on your train. Also, it's only if the car is the last one on your train and is facing the right direction (the rear platform must not be connected to any other cars.) It doesn't matter whether the car is on the front or the rear so long as the platform is facing out.

You can pull, push, shove, kick, dutch drop etc and you will still get the bonus.
Easy way to remember how to connect your car is to make sure that light he mentions is always unobstructed and facing out. Between that and the 2 windows on either side of the rear door of the observation car, it kind of looks like a cab control car in a really distant sort of way if you use your imagination........So yes, push/pull operations get the bonus in both directions.
