Suggestion: E-Unit and F-Unit diesels
The transition era had some of the classiest diesels ever to roam the rails: The E-Unit and F-unit diesel-electric locomotives. Even today when you think "passenger diesel" you usually think of these units.

The pride of the line for many Class Ones, these MU-capable diesels sold in cab-equipped A-units and cabless Booster or B-units were also the host to many classic paint schemes, such as the Southern's emerald green and white and the Santa Fe's "Bluebonnet" freight colors of blue with yellow lines, but the most iconic and striking of them all had to be the Santa Fe's Warbonnet paint, with its' striking scarlet and shining gold that carried through to both A-units and B-units, a paint scheme that lived on for them even into the modern era.

These units were even used in the early days of AMTRAK, today's National Railroad Passenger Corporation, after most US railroads gave up passenger service.

Yeah neat, but (and I could be wrong) but those majestic passenger trains wouldn't be traveling on these little single track short line routes.

But even if I'm wrong about the trackage, they certainly wouldn't be making any stops at any of the tiny towns on this route, so what is the point of just having them ram though the game at high speed?

When I think of passenger diesels on these types of routes, I think of the more simple painted B&O or C&O diesels that ran passenger one day and freight the next, not the "stars" of history.

This isn't train simulator or TSW, with very long, large historical passenger routes. OR with any real world paints, the point is to let the player build their own railroad, not duplicate historical roads.

BUT... I do agree that those diesel UNITS should be available as short line passenger and freight logos of the era. But ONLY with what we have now, in fictional simple liveries that allow for custom text of the user's choice. The units should look like hard working units on short routes, and not the glamorous transcontinental "super" trains.

Well, this route (which is based on the Murphy Branch of the Southern Railway IRL) seems to be a bridge line between two Class Ones. And even bridge lines had the ability to get large, modern motive power.

I do agree that custom liveries would be nice, along with a selection of logos (for the drumhead on the rear of your passenger coaches, for example.)
