Why get the 84 count passenger Coach?
The "Pullman 1900" 60 passenger coach cost me (with my discounts) $66 per seat, and the "Osgood-Bradley" 84 passenger coach costs me $69 per seat. Why get the upgraded one? Is there a luxury bonus to the train (like the Observation car)? Does it let the train go faster? I'm not sure I understand.

No, its much like any simulator there is... Sometimes you like a different passenger coach model. Capacity can also help when you want fewer overall coaches on a train, as train length can make it difficult to manage a railroad.

Its a train length benefit... alright. Should probably be a bit better bonus. But thats ok.

you get the first bridge repaired. Now 82 passenger want to depart Whittier Station for Ela and Bryson, how many double trips (extra cost in coal/time utilized) will make the larger car worth the cost?

Again, it is the players railroad and their choice :)

I use the Y in bryson to turn around my passenger train of 2 coaches/ one observation coach, but a 4th car would not fit into the Y so it would be more complicated and time consuming to turn around the train. That means i will upgrade to the 84 passenger coaches soon to have 193 passenger cap instead of 145.

Its really weird how they only talk about the economical side of things and count the few $ difference, while tottaly ignoring that the wagon simply looks way better, especially when you have several of them. Its train simulator first and financial sim second, looks matter. And irl there is little difference between different passenger cars too, even when they look all different. Please continue and add more variety of cars, even if they are pretty much the same in stats, just for looks of them. But yeah some stat difference could be usefull too if you have time and ressouces to implement them - like different classes - 1st class giving more money, but only limited amount of people actually using them, so you coulndt make 1st class only train. And dinner and sleeper cars. Could add bonus like observation cars, but even if they only for the looks, it would be fine too.

I agree. But arent there real world advantages to such an upgrade? I feel like it would be nice game play to have those advantages to make it a more meaningful decision. Like smoother ride, so value of ticket goes up. Or the trucks can roll faster allowing your to have a more expedited service. Or maybe its more likely to cause people for stations further away from eachother to come, meaning more money for the ticket price(actually, that would be interesting cause it would encourage the player to run express services, which would add to more rail management on a branch line). Just giving another opinion on them.

It dont think its weird. There were in fact real world advantages to upgrading coaches. Safety went up. Luxury went up. Smoother rides for passengers. And Id like to add that its a train simulator among a lot of train simulators... what makes this one better for me is that it allows rail management. Its focus (right now) is on the railroad management things. Line expansion. Contracts. Locomotive operational logistics. I love it for that. The other ones are too much on the driving end of things. With Railroader, I can run an AI on a lot of the tracks and enjoy the logistics of managing it. But at the same time when I'm board of that... I can just get down in the cab and run the train. I think the game has more to off than the aesthetic choices you can make for your railroad.

I found that so long as the observation car is furthers point from the engine... it will count the bonus. Which kind of makes sense when you think about it.

Good find, and turning around using the y takes a lot of time and attention. So when i have the ai drive the train ill just go back and forth and not bother about "reversing" the retoure route. Once the Passenger train goes the full route fom bryson to Sylva, or eaven more, i dont have to rotate it that often anyway.
