Railroader

Railroader

Conflicted...
Been watching some of the preview videos and a more than a bit conflicted whether to get this on release. Some concerns...

Definitely seems more Railroad Tycoon than Run 8. Can’t really tell about the physics, though the steam effects look nice and better than TSW4. Looks like it could be very time consuming to get anything done and while I hate sandbox modes I’m also not keen on unrealistic financial restraints in this sort of game, where you are literally living hand to mouth for each scrap of revenue that comes in.

Finally not impressed by the lack of visible passengers, both waiting for the train or actually sat in what was supposed to be a full carriage.

So Day One purchase... let's see what the GBP£ selling price is first and maybe the initial reviews.

I'm thinking along the same lines,,I was going to buy it right away but now I think I will wait and see.My interest is train simulations and not business management type games.I like the period a lot and it looks like it could be a good sim though.

I don't want ANOTHER train sim that's just about driving from A to B. I've waited years for a game to be more like Railroad Tycoon but with more operations depth. This game looks like it will fill that void.

Well I guess we get two hours to see if it meets our needs.

Just waiting for the unlock which now looks as if it's 1900 UTC/GMT.
dont pay any attention to hyce. he is a pretty toxic person who also is an owner of a company that is making a direct competitor to railroads online. so his views are going to be very biased

Early Access, just so you all know, allows us to grow and change the game for the better!

Game is great for where it is now that I have had a chance to play. Just keep on like you all are. This game is very much about the logistics and business of running a railroad. Its never going to be a steam loco study sim, nor should it try to be. It is very immersive when in the drivers seat and spot on the management side.

Vern, I'm a career railroader in the states, and this to me is a very good sim option already. The physics (I'm only on the tutorial, mind you) are way better than TSC et al...the independent brake works like you would expect. No coasting for a mile when fully applied, and the automatic seems ok, although I've only had one passenger car behind my loco. I'm liking the idea of building a company with all aspects in mind (business, maintenance, etc...). I really think these devs have created a labor of love, and I'd definitely give it a shot if trains are your thing. Individual results may vary, however...

Not sure why this got bumped up the list but as it's here, to close things off...

I bought the game and thus far it is really great, far from hitting the refund button I can't get enough of it. And that's only scratching the surface in the tutorial - much still to explore and learn. Once I've got a few more hours in, will be posting a positive review to support the developer.
