Setting up Multi-Engine (MU)

Im having the hardest time getting all the engines in the chain to follow the commands of the front engine. What am I doing wrong? I tried all engines having a MU checked. I tried all but front engine checked. I tried only front engine MU checked.

all engine mu checked, not you control engine cut out checked(so they brake follow you control engine)

Both MUs checked and 1 loco cutoff checked lets both locos work the train. You give the orders to just the not cutoff loco.

Now this seems opposite of what I read, which was supposedly the developers answer, which was to have nothing checked on the lead unit and both checked on all following units?? Is there a definitive answer?

Yes. The definitive answer is that the controlling loco should have neither MU nor Cutout checked. Any other directly attached locos should have both checked.
