MU
What's the current status on this? A post from December 28 said there were some bugs, and I have two Mikados and would like to MU them for larger trains. What is the proper way to set them up?

According to some posts over here it should work with two loco's close to each other. Both marked as MU and one of them with the brakes cut out.
(mu is indeed multiple units)

The helper should have both boxes ticked, the lead should have neither.

So I put the lead locomotive with no check boxes, then a banker locomotive at the back with both check boxes. The lead locomotive puffed as hard as it could while the banker at the other end appeared to be just towed. Any ideas?
I don't think they can be separate from one another, they must be in line.
Loco1->Loco2->Consist

That is correct. MU'ed engines are directly connected with hoses. I'm fairly certain that DPUs didn't exist back then.

So MU is useless using a steam locomotive as a helper in the rear. Right? But I see pictures here and there and on YouTube of others doing this. What gives?

If you run the rear helper in AI Road mode it will push as long as the trains speed is below the helpers set speed.

You can use a helper locomotive in the rear. Check Cutout and set it to AI Road mode. It will push when the speed is below the set speed, but won't brake. Don't set MU.
