No logs produced at Connelly Creek?
How do I load logs at Connelly Creek?

I left the 13T 40ft Skeleton Flatcars at L1 and L2 - then I slept and upon waking up I had no logs on the trains?

How do I get logs?

Did you made the settings for the cars? (control click on the car then something like transport) (= 'making the waybills') (Empty to Connelly L1/2, loaded to the sawmill; you can change the settings also at the moment you arrive/are at Connely and copy the settings of one car to all the coupled cars).

Yes!
I ended up having to do the following:

Select 1x 40ft Skeleton Flatcar
Set it to "Load to Whittier Saw Mill R1"
Set it to "Empties to Connelly Creek L1 / L2 / L3"

This got the cars loaded -

Now I am trying to unload the log cars at "Whittier Saw Mill R1" - I have put the train cars there but nothing is happening?

I don't know if I am running into a bug or if the system is just quite unclear?

If everything is set correctly, be aware they are slow to unload. Depending on which contract you have makes it faster/slower.

After spotting the cars, make sure it (the car(s)) indicate they are spotted then jump time ahead a few hours, a day, or just go do something else for a while and then check back. Visual confirmation of logs (or any other load) appearing/disappearing takes a long time.

Instead, click on the car once spotted and in place for an hour or so and verify it's going down fractionally. In the case of logs, if in a couple of hours it hasn't gone from 3.0 down at all, doublecheck your settings and car placement. This works for all freight cars and makes a nice double check IMO when starting a new contract or similar.

Hope this helps.

At first the sawmill accepts '5 cars a day'. That's less then 'one log every hour'. The settings are ok. As jwc said: have some patience (or jump the time ahead some hours to check). The same goes for all the destinations. Unloading can take day's, depending on the local need of the product.

You can haul two log trains, each of four cars a day. One at Conelly L1 and the second at Conelly L2. Take your time, and in the worning you will get a lot of money and find the cars unloaded. To switch the location at Conelly, you need to set it and the press Cycle to actually change the destination.

For what it's worth. Below is a relatively? simple logging system that works well (for me anyway). It's pretty close to having 2 unit trains and similar to what Rudolf Jan speaks of above.

Be aware it'll take a few days to get everything spotted correctly initially and even out but found it well worth it. A few screen shots or video to put in the guides would perhaps be better but that's above my pay grade so here goes.

Level 3 contact (15 logs per day)
Purchase (16) spine log cars and (2) S23 switchers.
Each train will consist of 1 loco and 8 cars.
End result are 8 cars painted one color dedicated to L1, 8 another color for L2.
Set up 2 identical trainsets with 4 cars one color and 4 another.
(I color code to avoid confusion/screw ups)
The (2) S23 switchers are dedicated to these 2 trains as well.

Each train spots/picks up 4 cars at L1 and 4 at L2 each trip on the way up/down.
There are always 8 cars (4 of one color, 4 of another) either fully loaded or completely empty going up/coming down the mountain on each run.
I run one "morning trip" and one "early afternoon trip".
My railroad operates from 7am to 3pm with a 25 mph speed limit...ideally.

Engines are cut off if/when oddball nearby switching, maintenance, etc. is called for. Coal and water are done without breaking the train up. It's done when backing out of R1 when needed.

So basically 1 engine sits at the sawmill while the other sits at L2 much of the day.
While perhaps a waste of locomotives, it works out well timing wise and pays nice $.
Very little manual switching (L1 is most of it) with minimal confusion and screw ups resulting. The color coding really helped me.

The sawmill gets 16 loads per 24 hours and as a result begins building a surplus if/when something goes haywire.

Timing wise expect the following once everything is in place and working like it should:
When loaded fully at L2, L1 is also ready to pull.
Depart L2. Stop and pick up L1.
With 8 loads, head down the mountain.
As this train of 8 loads rolls into E Whittier, the sawmill is (usually) done unloading.
This train of 8 fresh empties is moved off of R1 ASAP and pre staged to zip up the mountain.
The train of 8 fresh loads can then go directly into R1 and the train of empties is rolling out of town with L1 being spotted on the way up.
Cycle repeats.

The biggest trick (to me) is making sure the AI is set correctly and placement of fusees.
Again, the only manual switching and time eating moves to speak of are at L1 and those are very brief with proper fusee placement.

Hope this helps and makes some sense.

The unloading is verry slow.

Hello everyone!

Thank you for all your advice and help! I have ended up making it work!

My issue was that the following way of unloading the cars made no sense to me:
Select 1x 40ft Skeleton Flatcar
Set it to "Load to Whittier Saw Mill R1"
Set it to "Empties to Connelly Creek L1 / L2 / L3"

The above bills were the only way I could configure my train, and it always ended up with the train cars setting their end destination to "Connelly" even when full of logs...

In my opinion it should be
"Load at Connely"
"Empties to Whittier Saw Mill"

But the good news is, the "Cycle" button can override the "end destination" so I could force the log carts to want to go to Whittier Saw Mill - where they are slowly offloading just as you all said :)

Thank you all for your help! I am slowly figuring out how everything works :D

Glad you got it working!

Small explanation on the automatic waybills from my understanding. "Loads to" means if car is loaded take to X location. "Empties to" means if car is empty take to y location. I understand your confusion but the game is setup as "is car loaded" or "is car empty". Not Empty my freight at X and Load my freight at Y. Hope this helps.

He is using 'empties' as a noun, not a verb.
