EDIT: the sensitivity on the sticks is fantastic. when if figure out how to map other buttons to keys (hopefully possible) it's really quite awesome and this is an incredibly responsive flight experience.
EDIT2: I just assigned an INPUT to a MIXER assigned to an OUTPUT channel on the model tabs of those names. This got switch SA successfully assigned to toggle the Arm status in the game.
Click MDL and page over to INPUT. select the source and trigger the control you want to map. THen create a mixer, in this case with just the single control... I believe channels 1-8 should be reserved for axes, so I put my first button map on mixer 9 (internally assigned apparently to output 9.).
Once that was set up, the button showed up in the controller mapping!

i just picked up a radiomaster pocket elrs. Luckily I had some old vape 18650s. working well with the sticks but none of the other buttons are outputting anything. I think / hope this is a matter of controller configuration. The embedded OS is significantly more complicated than I expected. This is an unbelievable controller for what it can do / price point.
So far really humbled lol. I used to fly DJI phantom 4 which would practically hold a 1 square ft location on gps, it was ultra stable and predictable even in wind... massive massive flight control.
As for using the controller with this sim as someone very NOT ready for primetime in acro mode if you know what I mean:
The tutorial really sucked LOL. I have gotten better just flying in free mode and getting the feel for manually controlling ever minor movement in acro mode. it's another beast. as an actual (i'd say former, my license is well expired) instrument rated pilot, this is like flying a robinson r22 or another small heli. like riding a bronco in the sky until you start getting the fine motor down. I can see myself sticking with this controller for a while, it will do FAR MORE than I ever need am RC TX to do .
That said, the stick tips are F&*ing sharp. I tried to subconsciously pull a PS controller L3 button push and nearly made myself bleed. Definitely no slip possible, but the price is like.. enough to make me think its time to sand it down just a hair.
So far i absolutely love it. I'm now adjusting my drone buying plan. This sim, and I suspect other sims, are REALLY quite good. I've flown a few non-flight controlled tiny drones (not FPV) and it was like, trying to balance a camel on a bowling ball. Again as a former small aircraft pilot (most of several hundred in twin fix, about 3 hours in a robinson r22. LOL that was not for me.) I am excited to actually learn to FLY this aircraft. And because I can see using this or this brand at least for a while, I am glad I got the controller FIRST... and now instead of "well buying a decent headset and a decent matching drone system is going to cost a lot" i'm thinking "forget the drone, I need a headset with an HDMI input so I can better simulate this and prepare."
DEV IF YOU READ THIS: add an optional "ding" counter that multiples by a user defined value per drone setup. Everytime I hit a wall I say to myself "there's another 150-400+ dollars" ... I think it would be useful to show a running cost of damage. Doesn't need to be tracked per element, assume the worst!
