DLSS and FSR continue as at the launch of the game, full of crashes if you activate them
I have yet to have a crash using DLSS. Everying on Epic and some tweaks in the NVidia Control Panel might have to do with it.
Yes of course brother... DLSS and FSR have no problem... tell me more Rick... here is a screenshot of today and the game with the latest patch 1.04 and using only DLSS without FG
I started a new game and after the first cinematic a black screen appeared and then this error.
The only functional scaler is Intel XeSS

Instead of acting like an arse with my reply that wasnt being sarcastic and attacking me, lets diagnose what your issue might be.
Are you on a Laptop? - Possible issue related to GPU or Driver
What is your GPU Driver Version?
Windows 11? - Known that this game does not like Windows 11. Im on Windows 10.
Also doing some research on your error it looks like its a GPU Driver issue, not the game.
I dont always update my GPU Drivers. Im Running NVidia Driver Version 546.17. Latest driver is 552.22.
Similar issues to this is if you just stack driver update installs on top of one-another and thats actually bad which can cause driver crash errors like the one you posted. NVidia Drivers are notorious for this since they started becoming hundreds of megabytes in size.
So my recommendation to you is follow these steps.
- Go to NVidia's driver site, download whichever driver you feel thats compatible with your GPU
- next, google Wagnardsoft DDU - This is an IT Approved Video & Audio driver software removal tool. Software/Game Developers and IT Network Admins use this to do a full sweep to remove the conflicting remnants of drivers that dont get removed by their own uninstallers. Especially when using the uninstaller that automatically runs with newer drivers, it doesnt know how tot delete older versions.
- put both of those on your Desktop for easy access.
- Run DDU, Select the Driver type on the right and leave everything else Default. It will create a System restore point for you.
- There will be a restart, your video resolution will change to default since no driver except Windows Default Software driver.
- Run the NVidia driver next.
- Reboot your PC one more time and then configure your resolution.
That should eliminate that error going forward.
Bid you good day and happy gaming.
P.S. I also discovered by going down the research route that error is also related to Pirated Copies of games conflicting with D3D12 and Windows 11.
I had some crashes in Robocop back in December when the Nvidia driver at the time was pretty buggy at least for me. DDU’ing and reinstalling an older driver fixed it for me. No crashes on the current version of the game with the current driver for me, either (on a 4070).
my team is:
Intel Core i7 13700k
Gigabyte RTX 4070 Super Gaming OC
DDR5 32GB RAM
Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD
Since the game was released I have and many have this crash, I use both the latest April 2024 version of Windows 11, I also use the latest version of Nvidia 552.22, on the other hand I tried DLSS 3.5/3.6/3.7 and the same thing happens in each one. After some cinematics, the game crashes with a black screen, and I'm not the only one... I have now formatted my computer 5 times since the game came out, in that period of time I have done 2 video card updates, from the RTX 3070 ti to the RTX 4070 Super that I currently have. And the same thing has happened to all of them, I installed the latest patch that just came out and it didn't solve anything with DLSS and FSR that continue to fail from time to time, the only one that works correctly for me is the Intel XeSS that I currently use v1.3, and disabling climbers obviously also works out of 10.
The problem here is DLSS and FSR that still have bugs.
PS No game fails me and they all run at over 60 fps in 4k HDR resolution and at maximum settings, and of course I always use DDU in safe mode to remove graphics and sound drivers
