RTX has ray tracing hardware, Lumen does not use it. Instead it uses software that runs on general programmable shaders and does not rely on proprietary hardware by one specific manufacturer. Generally Lumen looks as good or better, and runs better. You're still using the shader units in Tensor cores, it's not like by using a software RT solution they're not utilizing your card :)
It already supports DLSS 3.5
Tensor cores are used for AI accelerated tasks (DLAA, DLSS, Ray Reconstruction, but that's just a DLSS pass anyway).
Lumen can run on RT hardware using Hardware Ray Tracing mode but this game is probably not using it.
LoL
I actually Prefer Software Lumen as it works well on both AMD / Nvidia Gpu's if you have a decent gpu. In fact 3/4th the time Software Lumen runs better on an AMD GPU vs an Nvidia Equivalent.
Hardware Raytracing like in Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk works better on Nvidia Gpu's though.
It depends on the Developer and who is making it and if it is an Nvidia Sponsored game it is more likely to have Hardware Ray Tracing.
Maybe this will answer your question.
3 year old AMD 6900xt / 6950xt at 1440P in menu but with TSR at Quality mode 67% all Epic settings, Lumen ON, High Quality Lumen Reflections ON, AMD Fluid Motion Frames on.
Its getting higher FPS than an RTX 4080 in this game with the same exact settings at 1440P, but with DLSS to quality, and Nvidia Frame Gen ON.

If it was Hardware Ray Tracing the RTX 4080 would be in the lead.
Does that make sense, I hope it does.
"Does the UE5 lumen in this game make use of my rtx GPU rt cores?".
Just this game. Graphics settings maxed out.
No, its Straight Software lumen so it has no advantage at all on your Nvidia Gpu that generally has better Hardware RT.
This game doesn't have Hardware RT.
Alan wake 2 Has HARDWARE RT and Cyberpunk.
I wouldn't be able to meet or beat an rtx 4080 if it did have Hardware Raytracing with the settings above on the previous post.
Thanks for the info!
Maybe it can be updated to support optional hardware lumen in the future.
Or real rt support.
