AVG Malware detection; Win32:Bogent [susp] (False positive)
Also, some tech questions since AFAIK It feels like I'm living in a rock like Patrick. After all, it's 2004 and I'm on the newly released Super Turbo Windows XP Arcade Edition Ultra 2005. Also, there's still a Blockbuster, and a Game Crazy down the road.

I know AVG is a notoriously bad antivirus, but I used it for years, and it does a similar job to McAfee back in the day, so I stuck with it because it gave me that normie style peace of mind.

I see a lot of recommendations for Windows Defender... sounds great! Though I remember how badly everyone trashed it. and now everyone's praising it! What happened? Kinda out of the loop here. :cleanfloppy::DukeThreedee:

Edit/update: to be exact, I also use MalwareBytes, Saved my PC when I was a kid, as I was way more reckless, young and naive and got my WoW account hacked. Also, I did a bit more research, and Windows Defender is good, especially when it turned into a full anti-virus, but AVG has some more security through obscurity. It's also free. Though in hindsight, it would have been better to use the free versions of Bitdefender or Kaspersky. But I don't feel like switching yet or taking the time to make comparisons. I'm like a normie who just wants good security, better than Windows Defender, even if I drop a frame or two.

The irony is, I'm already super secure, using noscript and adblock as a necessity. also, reading comments on what I download, going on unsafe sites with scripting disabled and in HTTPS, and other security measures to the point where I haven't got infected ever since. To be fair, Defender would be more than fine for someone with all that Dale-Tech levels of hyper-security xD
