Alex Murphy pack
Is this pack supposed to echo the scene where Alex gets sliced with a minigun by Clarence Bodiker?

It's just a cosmetic dlc pack

It occurred to me too late that the weapon doesn't resemble the minigun at the beginning of the movie, but the semiautomatic shotgun used later.

I'm not sure you know what a minigun is, floy.

Didn't Bodicker use a HEAVY MACHINE GUN to shred Murphy in half?

In the first film, Clarence(and his gang) use a shotguns and a pistol. At the end they use heavy anti-materiel rifles. The cutting in half is from the 2nd film, but done with a circular saw/grinder.

Then the model in the DLC must be the AM rifle. Thanks.

It's not, it's a shotgun.

I wish the DLC was the Cobra Assault Cannon.

Boddiker has Mossberg 5500 with a pistol grip and shortened barrel, a semi-auto shotgun. He blows Murphy's palm to shreds, after which one of his crewmembers shoots Murphy's arm off with another shotgun, then they shoot him multiple times all over. Clarence finishes Murphy off with a shot to the head using a handgun (it's hard to see but most likely a Desert Eagle which he uses in all the following scenes).

The Preorder Exclusive gun is Mossberg 500 Bullpup (a pump-action shotgun), the same that SWAT team's using in the film.

You get it in the third act of the game.

If it's a shotgun, why does it have vents like a railgun?

Those are heat shields, not vents. They're placed on the barrel to protect your hands from accidental burns. Boddiker's Mossberg 5500 had them as well.

Sorry. I could never tell the difference. Especially after seeing the Fallout interpretation of a Gauss Rifle.

Barrel ports look like very tiny holes at the end of a barrel. They vent high pressure gases to reduce recoil (at the cost projectile's velocity). You can find them on handguns, sometimes shotguns.

Muzzle brake is an add-on with few big holes. It vents gases without velocity loss at the cost of extanding the barrel and increasing overall weight. Used with rifles, rarely with shotguns.

And then there are heat shields - barrel covers with holes - of different types and shapes for shotguns, rifles and machine guns. They protect your hands and nothing more.

The thing with holes that Fallout coilgun has is just a foregrip, a type of heat shielding for rifles.

No it wasn't a Preorder bonus, if you bought the Alex Murphy edition you got it a few days early, plus the OCP Shotgun and Prototype Auto-9.

The Preorder bonus is the black auto-9 and blue (RoboCop 2) skin.

It finally occurred to me that vents in the barrel would be counter-productive since the means of propulsion would need to be isolated in order to maintain velocity. If anything, the vent would be near the catalyst to expel any waste products from the detonation.
