The fight against the "Old Man"
Can you please set any checkpoint between the stages of the fight. I mean, I finish the first stage within the office and reach the parking garage.. So a checkpoint at the parking garage would be nice. And if there are another stages to reach, make a checkpoint at the start of each stage so that we don't have to start again from the beginning of the whole fight...

And while you're at it, fix the crash I get after killing the old man, watching the cut scene, walking off - crash. Back to the beginning of the fight.... NOT FRUSTRATING IN THE SLIGHTEST!!!!!!
BOTH OF YOU TWO ARE RIGHT
always getting sent back to square one because old man is hard even with maxed COMBAT and ARMOR
but nearly beating him and UE5 FATAL ERROR!? i uninstalled stg i uninstalled

it should have ended with Wendell. I'm not saying the old man was a complete ass pull, the foreshadowing was there, but it's just a stupid twist that made the game overstay its welcome, blatant fan service to people who wanted Robocop 2 (even though logically that should have been destroyed and not even around anymore) and the Wendell finale was an amazing cutscene in itself

i was trying to be so forgiving of the game but that fight pushed me over the edge
To me the worst Boss Stage is the Final Stage. You only have a few covers for you to hide from Old Man's Machine gun, which means you either finish him as quick as possible, or waiting to be melted.

I sincerely believe that more cover in Final Stage is necessary. Did anyone know if there is an update incoming?
The final stage is easy af on hard. Use the right PCB with great %upgrade and unload on its weak point. (the orange circle thing).
It sounds like you guys are just bad at the game. You should be extremely overpowered at this point. You should have armour and 5 repair kits. Your Auto 9 should not need reloading and be full auto. I barely had to dodge the boss at all or worried about taking damage. It was basically a bonus stage type of end where you get to enjoy how much you have become unstopable.

PS: Did you just spoiled the final boss in the thread title? Like an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ would?
"you're bad at a game 'cause you didn't have the exact build I had in this game where you can't respec" is a hell of a take.

You don't need any special build, mate. The game is balanced for you to be overpowered at the end. I started the game by maxing out the non combat stuff like Deduction, Engineering and Focus. Only then I started putting skill points in Armor, Vitality and Combat and I was still indestructible by the end playing on Normal, which is the default difficulty.

And even if it was a matter of build and you screw up and was weak at the end.. that still means you're bad at the game. Choosing your skill wisely and planning ahead where you spend your points is part of the game.

I've just beaten the game. PCB 5.2 fully upgraded made the construction site and Old Man as easy as urinating on my hands.

Last fight is just genuinely unbalanced, and it doesn't help that the game can't keep a consistent FPS for me in this specific fight, while 90% of the game so far has been pretty solid. It's also just...well, not fun to fight a single bullet sponge that can destroy every bit of cover, drain HP from across the arena, and break the floor which just adds more frustration. Also, there are practically no weapon pickups, and even with an upgraded Auto 9, it feels tedious and boring.

I cruised through this game on Hard and have full spec Armor and a decent combat spec, and the last fight is significantly worse than every other fight in the game.
The fight got a lot easier for me when I switched my PCB to one with armor piercing, I think 5.3? That one also has the single shot and doom doom shots ability on it, so that helped too. By this point, you should have enough spare chips on your inventory to pretty much be able to switch and fill up any PCB on demand according to your needs. There's supposed to be weapon pickups lying around including a grenade launcher on phase 2, but I didn't even see them nor needed them after switching the PCB. Also, not sure if normal behavior or glitch but when he was down to like 10% HP he would just stay in place and shoot in my direction, I took cover behind a nearby wall and since he doesn't shoot until he sees you, that allowed me to peek and shoot a couple times, then go back to cover to safely regen some vitality and repeat until he died.

I figured their reasoning for not having a checkpoint was preventing you from soft-locking yourself by running out of OCP charges between phases, which happened to me the first time I attempted the fight. I guess you could have just loaded an earlier checkpoint if that happened though, but maybe they thought that wasn't as elegant of a solution or intuitive? Or maybe they just did it because it's more dramatic that way? Who knows.

it should have ended with Wendell
Disagree, this is a game (an action one at that), not a movie, you need a proper final boss from a gameplay perspective. Wendell doesn't work because he's not much of a threat to Robocop when engaged directly and reducing the final boss to just a cutscene would have been extremely anticlimactic. Project After Life was a big part of the plot too and needed more closure than "yeah, we just kinda discontinued the whole thing and nothing came out of it". If anything, I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get to fight more prototypes or find out where Brigg's brain ended up, they were clearly building him up as a Murphy analog with the way he was killed and establishing he had a strong sense of justice and what not, yet in the end I guess his brain was just as disposable as everyone else's.

And what's wrong with blatant fan service when the entire game is built upon that? You would have had a lot of people complaining if it had turned out that ED-209 got multiple boss fights but Robocop 2 was just a prop for a cutscene.
So yeah, respec'd my 5.2 board (the one with explosive rounds) and actually equipped it. I had been kind of ignoring the PCB stuff like an idiot because it was largely unnecessary until the final boss. With the boomer rounds and some damage buff, and a bit caffeine, he went down quick.

That said, I think the game glitched the first time, as I had him down to half-ish health and it never progressed to the 2nd or 3rd phases, whereas the second attempt, he went to phase 2 after about 25% damage.

No reloads is the way to go. Just spit out bullets until everything dies.
I used the single shot pcb and I was surprised how easy this boss was on hard.
I beat him the first time. This game does need it's check point system overhauled, though. I wonder if they put him in Robocop 2/ caine's robot because they weren't allowed to make new lore. Putting him in that robot was a bit meh...
