1100 something has been my highest about midway through the game. i was using the slow motion ability a lot which is probably cheating

a little over a thousand using an autoloader PCB.

The score really depends on auto9 chip upgrade and Robocop skills.

Without Upgrades I usually get around 260, give or take 10. Its all about target management. When you shoot a target it resets its position & spawn. So you can effectively predict and even dictate what order they will come out in based on the order you shoot them in.

With early-mid upgrades, I was able to reach nearly 1000, but after getting one of the best PCBs and the last range visit, I broke 2k.

I think it was somewhere around 160 for me. I didn't even factor in that Auto 9 upgrades could matter in range until I'd seen this thread, I think I get all the gun range stuff done before I start the PCB upgrades. Speaking of which, can anyone tell me how chip merging works? Like, can you make a certain one you need or is the outcome chip random?

Chip merging seemed really useless to me. Outputs seemed random and low-quality

That's what I'm saying, seems like a useless feature if it's going to create a chip you don't need. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for it other than pure luck getting one you need/want. I stay away from those OMNI chips to avoid penalties, but it'll still spit one out even if I don't put one in the merger.

4120 with the 6.2 PCB on full auto, no-reload, and using slowmo. I'm sure people have gotten much higher tho

I like the nature of this post OP. Reminds me of the old days when we would write down our scores on a clip board at the arcade because some of the machines sucked and did not remember our scores.
