Ending Question (Spoiler Alert!)
I understand there are three endings, but my only options appear to be the bad ones.

I seem to have clearly made some questionable moral choices in my playthrough, but in brief, I didn't get the option to try and save the old man, I literally just have the two bad endings.

Is this how it SHOULD be or have I someone found a weird bug!

PS - And the lack of NG+ is HIGHLY disappointing.

Here's the thing though, in a lot of instances letting people off with a warning seems to be a really bad idea. Like the guy smoking at the gas station.

Yeah, the system is simplistic: "public trust = good, uphold the law = bad". It kinda makes sense though, considering the state of Detroit as a whole: giving poor people tickets for littering or smoking is ridiculous, when there are literally buildings packed with gang members in the same block.
There are two homeless encounters and Robo says something like you should drink at home only and the dude literally looked around on both sides and shrugged and said, "This is my home."

Screw that guy, I gave him a ticket. Should have had an option to give him a Darwin award.

Yikes! It seems I was doing it slightly wrong as well; I might want to restart the game over again.
I’m only a few chapters in, and noticed the yellow graffiti on the buildings, having no clue what it meant.
But I was Upholding The Law on pretty much everything so far.
That’s what I understood from watching all three RoboCop movies in the theatre. He wasn’t there to make friends with everyone, but to enforce the law as designed; however this is a PC Game after all.
Anyway, it would be nice if the game would let you know in the beginning about these simple things.
So far, I’ve been exploring every tiny nook and cranny on the map for everything I can collect. Makes the game last longer. Interesting of all the interesting stuff you find!
I was hoping it would turn into an Open World when the main story was finished. But I can play it again on Normal difficulty level or the Game Plus feature.

Invest enough points in psychology and the game will highlight the "empathic" dialogue options, which place the public trust above the letter of the law. (Remember, 'Serve the Public Trust' is Directive 1. 'Uphold the Law' is number 3, so I think that's how you should prioritise them.) Bit sad that the game thinks we need to have empathy pointed out to us, though, because the choices are really pretty obvious. The way I see it, Murphy's occasional decision to give a second chance to people guilty of minor violations is crucial to him holding onto what's left of his humanity - he recognises that people sometimes make bad choices when life gives them a rough deal, and is prepared to allow them a chance to do better. That's compassion, and that's what makes him a human with machine parts instead of a machine with some organic components. If you "uphold the law" all the time and don't have compassion, then you're basically Judge Dredd and you shouldn't be surprised when people start to respond badly to you, because you're scary and inhuman.

If the public doesnt like you the graphitti is red and has your eyes crossed out, if they like you, it is yellow and says Robocop the Righteous.

Just wanted to add that this is incorrect. The graffiti is a simple outcome of the encounter and doesn't represent your standing with the community. I've mostly done the public trust options for just about anything, everybody adored me, but I've fined the guy and he made the evil graffiti, that's all there is to it. Similarly, you can be a complete ♥♥♥♥ in the game, but if you are forgiving to the sprayer, he just makes a nice graffiti of you.

They still do if you save him. That is dependent on whether you helped them throughout the game or not

The conversation with the old man in the hospital bed matters.

It was nice seeing graffiti of robocop come up around the city.

I told the old man it was like a nap.

That said, Pickles still ended up eaten by a snake, Ortiz has ended up with Terrorists, Mills left, though Washington became a good cop.

I think Mills leaves no matter what if he's elected, along with Ortiz as Ortiz's ending sets up Robocop 3, as this game is supposed to take place in between two and three.

You have to support pickles, I think picking the Diamond in the rough choice in the video shop is key, basically be supportive of him and don't let him have the money to get doped up. Force him to go cold turkey like someone that actually gives a damn about him. That means more than the line I mentioned.
