Yes. I think the fight might be literally impossible if you don't. At very least you'd need to use all the AR ammo + all the sniper ammo + like 500 rounds of auto9 even if you land all the explosive barrels. And I only play on normal.
Here's a hint, dumpsters can be carried and used as cover (while being carried).
The rest of the encounters aren't too bad, you get decent throwables and weapons to use against ED.
I played on extreme, I had to restart 5-10 times before I realized running and gunning against ED don't work to well unless you got space to work with.
I think the fight is fine. I mean without doing something restricted and scripted it's pretty much what you would expect.
Maybe throw in some cat and mouse gameplay that allow you to break line of sight with ED
for a moment so you can launch a surprise attack that would been a bit more fun. I loved that you had to compete with him prior to the fight. That was a pleasant surprise.
Throwing the barrels and hitting the weakspot did large enough chunks of damage, although the fight did drag on a little bit.
Because, you know, there's quite a few more like this, and then the boss fight. ROFLMAO
