// MILD SPOILER // Boss too spongy?
Anyone else find that the first ED-209 fight is a bit too much?
ED is a giant bullet sponge (at least on hard) and my winning tactic turned out to be putting a tall wooden box between me and him, and chipping away at his ridiculous health bar for what felt like 20 minutes.

It's not difficult, it's tedious.
The environmental items and extra weapons don't help much either.

Well, I found it a bit of a challenge.

I had put all my points into Deduction and Psychology so without any combat benefits to fall
back on I had get it by throwing every flammable object available which brought it down to about 50% health timing two of them to explode the vehicles when they were in proximity but this cost me all of my health restoration resources. From there the shell was cracked enough to do damage anywhere I shot but it was like twenty minutes of hiding behind pillars and crates and taking pot shots until it died. It was not short or pleasant and even once I had a strategy it still took at least three attempts before I got it.

All the enemies are sponges though. I have to shoot a dude twice in the head to get him to drop despite the fact his only protection is just a beany. On the one hand, I can't really complain about difficult because at least on normal none of this is difficult and part of the game's charm is how straight forward and unpretentious it is. . .But on the other hand it isn't a very interesting mechanic.

You're supposed to throw explosive at him.
They are all over the place, fight takes a couple of minutes if you just throw barrels at him instead of shooting.

Yeah, you said you're on normal right?
I'm on hard, it's more of a pain.

Those explosives hardly do anything though, and I had to expose myself and get peppered.

Safest way is to hide behind a tall wooden box and a pillar, and shoot him only when you have shield activated. IF you had shield to begin with.

took me a while and 3 attempts to beat him but I had only social / deduction and scanner skills leveled up at that point. now with upgraded auto-9 and points in focus I just kill everything in sight without taking a sweat. so it depends a little on the build.
Use the cranes with junk in them, they do a whole bunch of damage. You have to look up a decent ways but if he's following you around, you can drop at least two on him. It won't instantly end the fight but it does a pretty decent chunk, at least a fifth or so each
I replayed that fight several times on hard, was not very specced into combat either as up until that point there had not really been much need to. I had the first level of slowmotion.

It was not great, ED just turned his turrets on full blast and walked me down usually.
In the end after many tries I got most of his health bar down by throwing stuff at him but his last 10% I also hid behind a box that was just tall enough I could shoot the top of it but it could not hit me.

Worst part of trying to throw stuff at it a lot of the times it would be going full blast constantly so the explosive stuff I was trying to throw exploded before I could chuck it at him. And then there´s the AOE rockets..
Was not the worst boss fight I´ve played in a game but not great either.
kinda curious if there is a better way to do it and to what extent being more specced into combat makes.

so there was a better way. Did not realize there was interactive environment options..
